Along with other posters i am confident that I could name 2 people who your comments could refer to. Talk about caliing the kettle black.

Thank you for pointing all that out gazan.Originally posted by gazan View PostMSB, to listen to the podcast (basically a radio programme you can listen to at any time online: you said you didn't know this) just Google The Railwaymen podcast. You'll find programmes going back quite a few years. Look especially for episodes where Charles Grant or even Lee Bell appears (but there are many other interesting ones, like, with ex-players - you might even hear my voice on the odd occasion😉
.
Further, I take it you look at the official website. They announce fans forums on there.
I also receive "Inside Crewe", a monthly magazine where both manager and chairman have monthly columns and there are features by other members of the board, articles about the academy and items from the Railwaymen Supporters group and Peter Morse (the editor as well as co-commentator on Radio Stoke). You might try getting hold of a copy (the library might take it)
I rarely look at the Alex Official Site as to me its next to useless. They could have a fans forum on there like they used to which was very popular but they axed it for some reason. I suspect it was too much work and made no money for them and everything tied to football is how much are you prepared to pay us etc. The academy is something I will never accept as we didn't have one for over a hundred years and imo the football was better and we didn't have to watch kids playing for full gate money. I think the board and management and coaches and Directors know nothing about how football should be played and many old managers agree with my POV. You cannot teach or coach football skills in players who have natural talent for the game and it could be that we allowed our players to play to their skills in the first four games and then the bloody coaches and management took over.

So, virtually every thread/argument/discussion that Mike reads, gets replied to with his cut, copy paste reply about the good old days, too many coaches, how good he was without coaching, and the academy.Originally posted by MikeSB View PostThank you for pointing all that out gazan.

Lukour is passively (?) aggressive, and borderline bullying.
Gazan and others asked why this board was poorly supported. I hadn’t posted for months, but as a token of support for the board and Gazan, I have posted again recently.
I will continue to read the board, and may post very occasionally, but I think for the majority of the time, I’ll give it a miss.

It would be a shame if you feel you can't contribute to this board but I get everything you say. I suspect I may be one of the people Lukour was referring to in his previous post. I don't put much on here as I feel it has become more difficult because of the difficulties at times of actually logging on. No other reason though. Like most people, I have my views and I refuse to be silenced because, at times I am in a minority although I wouldn't be deterred by any individual. I have a fairly thick skin and I certainly don't get upset by people I don't actually know having a pop at me. As has been said, we are all Alex supporters and all entitled to our views. I mean, it could be worse. We could be arguing about politics.Originally posted by jimmyboldon View PostSo, virtually every thread/argument/discussion that Mike reads, gets replied to with his cut, copy paste reply about the good old days, too many coaches, how good he was without coaching, and the academy.

This board has always been a dead and dismal board where just a few people post here. You can say I cut and paste my views on the academy but when you believe in a principle that football cannot be taught by second rate coaches and almost everyone can play football from a young age and if they have talent they will get better as they get older. They do NOT need people who cannot play the game today telling players with talent how to play the game. We won 7-1 the other night and so why not put that whole team out the next game as all they could lose is one game and we almost lost it anyway. Gary Player did not believe in golf coaching as he said when the coach is a worse player than he was, why should he take notice of them? We have had a few Pro's here who have fallen out with the managers and coaches when they try and teach them how to play etc. Its not about the good old days its about whether coaching and million pound academies work and the answer is they don't otherwise we would not have to have loan players at any club.Originally posted by jimmyboldon View PostSo, virtually every thread/argument/discussion that Mike reads, gets replied to with his cut, copy paste reply about the good old days, too many coaches, how good he was without coaching, and the academy.

I say again that we won the world cup in 1966 at an age where most fans today would not have seen that period and now think we cannot do without coaches and academies.
I think this board should be closed down based on so few posters and its not fair that the same posters keep it going. People won't post as they really have nothing to add to the conversation and even their replies are cut and pasted. I was a pretty good player and did not have ONE coaching lesson in my life like millions of players before didn't and so how come we need academies now? Today's players could not play on the pitches of old and certainly academy players couldn't. Players of yesteryear were far batter than now as nobody could head a ball like Frank Lord or score goals like Jimmy Greaves and not one coach or academy in sight.

WTF coaches the taking of corners in this modern game where you have 21 players all pushing each other in the 6 yard box and the opposition still score from them anyway. Its a fact that if there were half that number of players around, then the opposition would have to have players near the half way line to stop them reaching goal and ist likely that our GK could have caught the corner taken at Colchester but there were 3 alex players half a yard from him and one opposition player who scored and they talk about coaching! Its nonsense!

And, as if to prove your point, there it is. I guess when you get to a certain age you know better than everyone else. I am almost at that age so watch out y'all!Originally posted by jimmyboldon View PostSo, virtually every thread/argument/discussion that Mike reads, gets replied to with his cut, copy paste reply about the good old days, too many coaches, how good he was without coaching, and the academy.

1. I dont go to see the games so I dont post about them.
2. When Crewe win nothing.
3. When Crewe lose . Disaster .. get rid of coaches, academies .. ah, yes, the good old days rule !
4. Posters here have backed up their comments with proof, but this will be ignored in a few months time.
5. England won the 1966 World Cup because they were coached to play a style of football to win (read Wikipedia).
6. If you want this site to close down, then stop posting. Non use is the best way to do this.

It's a shame that we're here again. One person who either deliberately or because he can't help himself is being aggressive. Another going over very old ground and ignoring other people's salient points. I am pointing this out so in a way playing to their little dramas. I will try not to engage again (take the bait).
We've just had several months of people talking about football and a period of success. We've very recently had a couple of poor games and the rancour begins. Is this coincidence? I think not.
Anyone want to talk about football?

I will talk about football. Whilst the last couple of matches have proved disappointing in terms of the football played and to some extent the results achieved. However, in overall terms I think we have much to feel positive about. The signings during the summer appear to be very good and we should be mindful of the very good players who are still missing through injury, one of whom returned on Saturday. My understanding is that another is not too far away and Shilow is apparently recovering well. Sadly, we are unlikely to see Joel Tabiner back this season and he will be a big miss. Three points on Saturday will go some way to settling the narrative down a littleOriginally posted by gazan View PostIt's a shame that we're here again. Couldn't agree more. I'm a pessimist when it comes to the Alex but then feel better when I've had a think about. We're suffering, as fans, a little because we started like a train over 4/5 games but have slowed a bit in the last two. However, if the order of wins had been different we might feel different. They all came at once whereas had they been more mixed we would have been reasonably more content with 13 points from 7 games, including 2 exhilarating away days, and, to some extent, a 7-1 win over Chesterfield in the paint pot insurance vans league. So Matus is back and Jack will soon follow. I think we have to give the latter time and not allow our expectations to run overboard.
I notice that our 'development loanee' scored a long range effort against Charlton for the U21s. Maybe he can contribute as well.
Just realised that I'm posting this on last Saturday's thread when it's a very general post.
Maybe we need a general thread for such a post.
