  • Reality Check!

I think we are being too harsh on our football team's performance. The facts are is that we are a fourth division side and have been in the bottom league for over a 100 years and our fans support is a lot lower than many National league sides. So our players will be fourth division standard and so will make mistakes as that is what players in this league do.

I think us spending over a million pounds on an academy idea is just plain foolish and stupid really as all the days of that working have long since gone and we should not be training or coaching players under 17 years of age and why if we have to have an academy it should be Cat4 which will save us a lot of money but possibly maybe not as much as I think as the PL/FA pay a substantial part of the costs. Even then very few clubs at our level are at Cat2 and so the question then is why are we Cat2?

Ditto with the management. Its OK saying we want an experienced and seasoned manager but the fact is they would cost a lot more than Lee Bell does and the Chairman knows that all too well. but we could get rid of a lot of the non players as they add nothing to the club or the results in my simple opinion and the fact is that there are a lot of clubs in Div4 with far higher gates like Tranmere for example who would be delighted with our results over the last few years.

Grimsby and Dave Artell must be seething as a win against Colchester would have placed them second in the league but they lost and Walsall and others did not win their games.

So time for a breather and a reality check which is always beneficial imo..If we were to get into the play offs then that would be a big bonus.
