  • Grimsby (Cod Army)

Right, my team for this weekend is

    Booth,
    Billington, Demetriou, Golding, Hutchinson
Now struggling with Midfield, but to start O'Reilly (or a fit Holicek), Connor and Saunders
Up front, Agius, Moult (or Tezgel) and Rankin (or Mingi, yes I know called a fullback but pacey).

If we go with above 2-1 Crewe or 2-2, with a silly goal let in somewhere, maybe even 2!

So, no room for Lankester? Or Lunt? Possibly Moult and Tezgel and Rankine.

As for forecast, difficult. But maybe 2-1 for Grimsby unless Bell can come up with something new and definitive. So 2-1 to Grimsby, then!

        Gazan,

We have all agreed it does not work as it is, so I was ringing in the changes (not that many, just shuffling of the pack), Lunt was not great last week, Lancaster I recall only did 2/3 game. So why not possibly Moult and Tezgel and Rankine to see where that gets us. As Mike says with 5 on the bench, we can swop out 50% of the team at halftime is going South......

For a hundred years....no subs allowed!

Then one was it and then two and now five....Is it progressing to 11?

I actually agree with one sub plus the GK and that's all imv..

Also its more expensive to have five subs as they will want the same money as the rest of the team/squad...Which seems fair in some respects..

I don't recognise the game anymore as we have thousands of females playing football and cricket now and actually, they make far better players than the men and so the question then becomes...

When do we have both men and women playing in the same game...I'm not sure the showers will cope!

I may be wrong, but aren't players on contracts which suggests their pay is pretty much assured whether they play or not.

Timmy, I think its all tied down to appearances and you get more money if you are selected to play either in the starting 11 and including the 5 subs now?

But I too could be wrong as I was just now about men and women playing in the same team. I want to revise my comments to the fact that if that happened, the showers will become very crowded! Seriously though, it could happen that both could be playing in the same team as we have women refs now in the PL and lower down and we have had one the other week. I wonder if we can afford all these showers at Gresty Road?

              Oh sorry...

I'm glad to say that posting here as become a lot easier now. Anyone else found that?

This thread is about Saturday scoreline..

I'm sorry to say that I think the score will be a loss of 3-0 as we have nobody to score now!

It would be very ironic that Grimsby could win easily with a manager whom we sacked and the win puts them in the top three? I wonder if DA would come back here as he still lives in the area...presumably?

I wouldn't think that DA would want to walk away from the team he has built to come back to Crewe. Don't get me wrong I think LB has built a decent squad and we have decent players but something is not working after a brilliant start to the season. Defensively we are poor we leak goals and cannot score that leads to us losing games. At this moment in time I would opt for DA but that is not a realistic proposition.

As for the game I think a draw would be a good result but realistically I cannot see that, I will be there hoping to see a team that can compete., but I think a Grimsby win 3-0 is more likely.

Our results are showing a similar pattern to the second half of last season so not pinning much hope on this game.LB and RD are so set in their ways they are refusing to consider that they are wrong.

But my heart as a supporter of my local team (not born and bred a Crewie) would be so pleased with a win

I've just booked my match ticket to make a special effort today as I lived in Grimsby for two years not that long ago and so its probably more special than normal. I need my strong glasses on and stuff to keep me warm but my match prediction of a loss of 3-0 still stands. Sadly that is as mamagers need to get far more strikers in the team nowadays.

Good to hear you'll be making an appearance at Gresty Road, MSB. Maybe this will pressage a surprise home performance!

I hope that Crewe fans will treat Artell with respect. He managed a brilliant team when we were promoted. He was a victim of post-Covid circumstances where our stars all left at once and then there were 2 very late 'retirements' that scuppered his plans. Okay, there were also personality issues as well but I think he does need recognition for his achievements. At least he has/had vision of what he wants. Is there a clear vision at the Alex currently??

Here's hoping a) we don't go one down as that seems to mean end of the game.
                            b) if we aren't doing well, that Bell is able to make coherent substitutions at a sufficiently early moment.

Connolly starting so I will move my 0-2 loss thoughts to a 0-3 loss. I hope I?m wrong.
