  • Owls enter Administration.

Sheffield Wednesday are reported as having filed for Administration. Sad to see this once great club in such a state of decline and another example of seemingly incompetent ownership dragging a club and its supporters down into the mire.
A twelve point deduction is seemingly inevitable and such is their already perilous position, it looks likely that there will now be effectively only two relegation places to avoid.
Personally I don’t care how a minority of Wednesday supporters behaved when we were in a similar position. Sheffield Wednesday is a great football name and a huge part of that city’s culture and community. I very much hope they survive and when the two teams meet our fans would do well to remember how we all felt just a few seasons ago.

Agree it's sad for the club and majority of fans, however I only know one Wednesday fan and he thoroughly enjoyed our predicament and took delight in reminding me of it each time we saw each other..so sad for everyone apart from him...

Very poor to say this in their statement...blame the fans

'While the recent fan boycott has not directly caused the insolvency, it has increased financial pressure on the club. As a result, the owner has chosen to place the club into administration."

Tossers(the owners)! When things go tits up it's never the owners fault!

Having said that both Sheffield clubs have more than their fair share of tosspots supporting them. Yes, it's going back a long way but at both places I've had to run the gauntlet of a baying mob including at Hillsborough having to climb over a particularly high wall to escape with several coppers watching on whilst showing no desire to help!

Even so our experience (which remains an open wound) is one I wouldn't wish on the majority especially the older ones to whom the club is a big part of their life.

It's only a great name if you're playing scrabble. Let's hope it's a 20 point deduction just to be sure.

Rather glad my youngest works for Sheffield United and not Wednesday (didnt ever think Id say that!). At least they have avoided the dreaded Andy's that we got.... 12 point deduction confirmed. What a surprise - the ground isnt owned by the same company as the club: where have I heard that before?
