  • Matchday Thread: Blades vs Rams

What chance to keep the mini run going?

They are on poor form too but one has to think they won't finish anywhere near the bottom 3.

I'm going for a 1-1 drawing which would be a decent result.

Hoping for a win, we were half decent last weekend and I'm especially confident in our defence (personnel and formation)

    2-0 Rams

Only a wish, and related to MA's post below, wouldn't it be great to 'go on a run'

1-1 would be fine, but I fancy a narrow nerve wracking second away win.

Form suggests perhaps a draw as neither of us are in great shape despite our two win streak. Which is the real DCFC - the one against Pxfor or the one against QPR? brewster to score on return - but hes probably injured again

Oxford was a poor Rams performance in both halves. Norwich 1st half equally as bad. At HT we switched from a back 4 to a 3 and brought Langas on. Great improvement. Langas on from the start against QPR and we played 2 decent halves.

Looking at form, both sides have 9 points form their last 3 games. We have 2 wins, 3 draws and a defeat. They have 3 wins and 3 defeats. Lost to Soton with whom we drew and beat Oxford 1-0 to whom we lost 1-0 in that dreadful performance.

For me, the ideal game would be they take a 1-0 lead, we win 1-2, take the 3 points, move up the table and lose that monkey off JE's back where he's not won a game at either Blackburn or us after falling behind.

What do I think will happen? 0-1 to us.

The big question is, after Bobby Clark's performance against QPR, will Adams get his place back? If we keep the same side apart from Ebou replacing Adams in the "two", I would find that harsh on Clark.

After a disastrous start Wilder has been brought back in for his 3rd stint at the Blades to sort things out and he will.
With us both showing signs of improving after dodgy starts a low scoring draw seems probable and I go along with 1-1.
As an aside I can see there being, shall we say, something of a clash of personalities between JE and CW!! Could be lively on the touchline!

I'd love 3 on the trot, though we will miss Max and it'll be telling. I'll go for a nervy 1-0 win.

Again difficult to judge, going for 1-1, seems most likely outcome.

Been at Everton’s new ground today for the RL International. Looks like a huge spaceship that has landed amongst the 18th century docks. Fine new stadium which attracted 56k today, but the best part of the day was being told that Derby were 0-3 up.
Hoped for a win, expected a draw, a 3-1 away win surpassed expectation. Excellent and very encouraging result.

Not vintage Championship football from 2 teams struggling for quality but we had Morris.!!
A first hat trick for a quality leader keeps our upturn rolling. 3 more welcome points makes the table look much less stressful. Onwards and upwards.

A result that flatters us, IMO. All the stats, apart from the most important one, were in their favour. We've nicked a win with 37.7% of possession, less shots, less shots on target, less expected this that and the other.... We put 3 away, they manged only one. That should be all that matters. One stat has me worried. Pass accuracy. 69.6%. 3 out of every 10 attempted passes gave the ball away. We can, and did, get away with that against a Blades side that played a lot of good football (more than us IMO) but are even less dangerous in the final third than us. IMO we wouldn't get away with that against a top 10 side.

Good header from a corner for the first. Great assist by one of theirs for the 2nd, a mere 19 seconds into the 2nd half. Morris was alive to the situation and in the right place to intercept, run on and score. I liked the way he took it as most strikers would have gone hard and low and seen the ball diverted by the keeper's right foot. Morris chipped. Something I've been advocating for years.

If we get 38% possession and have <70% pass success rate on Tuesday against Hull, we will, IMO, lose. Passing has been an issue all season. It needs sorting. The other thing we need to sort is our repeated inability to clear our lines at times.

Very happy at the result, less so with the performance. I hope that the Langas bloody shorts don't signify an absence...
