Still here in hospital in Greece. Really starting to get down now.

Wow! Felt sure you were back in the U.K. Must have misunderstood.

You didn’t miss much on Saturday tbh. One excellent goal but too many old shortcomings and a long way from our strongest side so patience is the order of the day.

It's frustrating as I feel ok. My bloods are lowish, but not critically so, but remained stable from yesterday.

Insurance rang me today asking why I'd refused treatment, this is about the 5th time we've had the conversation.

On my 2nd day at the hospital in Athens I had a procedure which required sedation. As I was coming round they were asking me to consent to another treatment but we're very vague on what it was. I said I wanted to speak to my consultant back home before saying yes, they were demanding I ring him then which I tried but no answer. So I said I'll speak to them tomorrow.

The next day the Dr in charge of my case said I didn't need said treatment and the goal was to get me stable to travel home and pick it up with Derby Royal.

Insurance today though saying I outright refused it, which I didn't, and they won't consider me safe to travel unless I have it. Tried explaining, again, I'd subsequently been advised not to have it.

They don't listen though, so I said you need to speak to hospital. I know they are going to say the same thing next time we speak.

I'm getting to the point I am going to discharge myself and just fly home and deal with Derby, too many mixed messages and shifting goalposts. I've been told several times I might be able to get fit to fly tomorrow only to be told the same the next day and the next and the next.

Dr today said again if stable should get fit to fly tomorrow, if I don't I'm coming home I think.

Bloody jobsworths, Insurance Companies, when you want something from them. They're only messing you about for one reason. They want you to discharge yourself, pay for the flight yourself and then go to see Derby Royal. Saves them a packet.

Understand your anxiety Sith, but please only discharge yourself to fly home if you are as sure as can be that there are no ‘in flight’ implications.

Would be ironic if you were discharged, got to Athens airport and found you'd left your passport in Xante thus having to send your MIL back for it....

Ugh still here. The fit to fly on Wednesday didn't happen despite bloods being stable.

My original Dr is now on vacation so the new one who came in wanted to go all over my medical history again and so on. Anyway he promises me if bloods stable I'd get fit to fly Thursday, Thursday comes told need to go check i have no dvt from being laid up, ok fair enough, and if not will issue fit to fly. Had my check around 1pm all ok. Never saw Dr again, went to nurses station when it was obvious he wasn't coming back and they confirmed no fit to fly issued and Dr gone home.

So today, I think as losing track of time and the will to live, will be the 5th consecutive where 'tomorrow' should see fit to fly if stable, which i expect to be.

Being patient is one thing but only so much someone can take. If no fit to fly i feel no option but to discharge as they seem to be inventing reasons to keep me here.

I had something similar when in hospital back end of last year. Told I would be discharged on day 1, finally got out on day 6. Each day was another admin reason why not sent home, not a medical one. So frustrating but just had to suck it up and go with the flow. Don't leave of your own accord, it may prejudice insurance and airlines won't let you on without fit to fly anyway (if they ask/know)

I know insurance wouldn't cover ne for journey home and I don't think there would be an issue with flying as I don't look ill, they wouldn't know
