Understand your frustration, Sith…well almost, but I think GP’s advice is good.
There’s an understandable temptation to believe the world is against you at the moment and the communication sounds incredibly poor, but surely it’s in the insurance companies interests to get you home asap as your already lengthy hospital stay must be costing them a fortune.
Hang on in there, list all the failings and contradictions and get the insurance company to sort it would be my advice, it’s what you’ve paid for after all.
At the moment it sounds like everyone is more bothered about covering their own back. If all else fails we’ll send a posse down to get you out.
Thinking of you…it’ll get come right.

Interesting - I'd have thought insurance should cover repatriation as it's cheaper to get you home under NHS than to pay for Greek hospitalisation.

Beware of sneaky questions at check in about health... if, God forbid, something went wrong and flight needed to deviate the airline might come after you for big money

        More sense, imo.
My wife had to have just such a repatriation flight from the Canaries about twelve years ago. She then spent 17 days in hospital in Derby. The insurance company couldn?t wait to fly her back (to bloody Gatwick!!) and then paid for a taxi from Gatwick to Derbyshire (and back) because it was the cheapest alternative. Once we got out of the taxi they were absolved of all further responsibility.

So take care. In the meantime, we?ll organise a van. I?ll drive. MA can ride shotgun. GP speaks Greek and Swale will give the doctors a boll****ing?sorted!

Insurance will cover it if i go and they arrange. I do get everything everyone says and know it's right but there is a limit to what people can endure.

It's frustrating as it's always 'tomorrow'. I think half the issue is that they got excited over my condition, it's rare and they are it feels like they are trying to solve my condition, which I've had over 12 years, that's for the Dr's at home. The only job for them here is to get me fit to fly which according to the criteria they have set I am, yesterday morning he assured me if no dvt he would issue it. So the only reasons for keeping me are either money or some fascination with my condition.

Also aware I'm probably sounding like an inpatient mardy git, but that's because I am.

Tried to get some news but no one will say anything, rang Insurance and they just say waiting on hospital. Hopefully Dr will appear at sometime.

Patience is a virtue and it sounds like yours is being severely tested. Hang on in there. As the club says, we're fighters, not victims. We also fight to the end.

Good tip from rA. Make a list of all the things that went askew. Present it to your insurers. Might not help further your cause but would certainly help others going forward. It will also help pass some time...

Got everything crossed hoping this saga soon ends with your repatriation.

You don’t sound like a ‘mardy git’, Sith. Just sound like someone at the end of their tether which is completely understandable.

Ugh..Chased insurance who say hospital want to know the plan to get me home before they issue the fit to fly but insurance say they need the fit to fly to do a plan.

Catch22. Time to put your foot down with a firm hand. Find the contact data of whoever the "right man" with your insurance and also the contact data of whoever makes the decision over the fit to fly at the hospital. Instruct insurance bod to speak with hospital bod in order to get a solution as you're sick to the back teeth of being treated as the piggy in the middle.

We've been trying to do that last 30 mins. The insurance said they will phone the hospital rather than just email. Just been to reception as we have not had a visit from the Dr yet and they said he's been on this floor already but will try and find out if he's still here.

It's appalling to be honest. Let's hope he hasn't just gone and not done what he promised.

hate to mention it but its unlikely to get resolved over the weekend as beither insurers nor doctors likely to be working. With it now being about 6pm in Greece (not sure whn=en clocks change) dont get your hopes up.

NB rA I speak no Greek at all, just have loads of client-contacts there who speak way better English and/or Italian

The Insurance have assured us weekends aren't an issue once it's signed.

Most of what you say is ‘all Greek to me’!

Only joking. For what it’s worth I think you’ve been a source of good sense on this one.

Good luck Sith, hope you’re back home very soon.

I'll be watching from my hospital room on Now TV like last week. The question will be if I make it to Fridays game. Depends what day I'm home and how long Derby keep me for. I can't see it should need to be in Derby for long my blood counts have recovered on their own, it's feasible they could be close to normal by the time I get to Derby Royal.
