Mm surely a mistake to let him go now, I can see how he might leave in the summer, with the squad hopefully being improved, but we are not exactly over=burdened with midfielders at the moment, unless of course there is a replacment lined up.

Agree, think he could be needed.Originally posted by swaledale View PostMm surely a mistake to let him go now, I can see how he might leave in the summer, with the squad hopefully being improved, but we are not exactly over=burdened with midfielders at the moment, unless of course there is a replacment lined up.

Two of my favourite players and Warne’s two best signings gone in a couple of days. Could see the point of letting Nelson go, but not Adams. Despite his limited passing ability he’s the most combative player at the club and one who always leads by example, two qualities we still may need. First time I’ve genuinely doubted a Eustace decision. Ebou should always be welcomed back and deserves better imo.Originally posted by swaledale View PostMm surely a mistake to let him go now, I can see how he might leave in the summer, with the squad hopefully being improved, but we are not exactly over=burdened with midfielders at the moment, unless of course there is a replacment lined up.

It's part of promotion and building a stronger squad, that some of your promotion heroes find themselves moving on. Adams was brilliant getting us up, and has done a good job since, but he's a liability with the ball at his feet. Unless we use him to just sit in front of the back 4 to break up play, then we're not getting the most out of him, and he's not giving us what we need. I suspect the new boy is the natural replacement, along with Travis, to play as our central pair.
It wouldn't surprise me if we tried to just get by for now, and made another midfield signing in the summer, and/or just had a short term loan this season, to give extra cover.

Yes, loved Ebou as player but life moves on if we want to progress and better players will come in hopefully as this process evolves. Same with Nelson. If we upgrade I'm happy - sale doesn't appear to be financially driven decision more to create squad space for.... Who knows. Perhaps Ozoh related?
On the other hand Jackson departure improves the squad even if he's not replaced.
Our return to upper echelons of championship has needed horses for courses, and those three plus a few more (Forsyth, Nyambe) likely won't survive the next reshuffle either as we look to build quality. CBT? Who knows - give him a chance ??

He's been ***** to our recovery from the depths of despair and deserves our thanks and gratitude but as RS says we are entering into the next phase of that recovery and the manager has to determine how the squad moves on. Time will tell if the right decisions are taken but changes are inevitable. Good luck to Nelson and Adams we wish them both well in the future.Originally posted by Ramshank72 View PostIt's part of promotion and building a stronger squad, that some of your promotion heroes find themselves moving on. God this site is something that rhymes with it at present but…although I get what several are suggesting I still fear we can’t afford to let the backbone of the side go. Nelson made sense because we are well covered in his position, but we’re still not completely out of the ‘dogfight woods’ and now Portsmouth have - it’s a completely done deal according to the BBC - the ‘big dog’. Fozzy I think will be done at the end of the season although I hope we find him a coaching role, can’t remember the last time Nyambe contributed anything and if Adams was Warne’s best ever signing, then CBT was surely his worst and I know which I’d prefer to have seen moved on at this particular moment. Hope I’m wrong but this may be a decision that comes back to bite us.Last edited by ramAnag; 16-01-2026, 05:02 PM.

Several sources linking us with free agent French/Moroccan midfielder Amine Bassi. Don’t know if there’s anything in it but had experience in Europe, the U.S. and the Championship (with Barnsley). Apart from five seasons with Nancy he seems to move around a lot.Last edited by ramAnag; 24-01-2026, 03:19 PM.
