Problem with Salvesen, IMO, like so many players we've had through the years, we're asking him to play as a back to the goal target man when his forte is running the channels, chasing through balls and getting on the end of decent crosses. We aren't playing to his strengths.He has a footballing brain and the skill to match it, witness the recent game when he was brought on with about 10 to go and was brilliant working wit 2 or 3 others in running the clock down. Play to his skillset and we've got a good un. Ask him to play a game he's not suited to and they'd be better off playing me.

Played half my "career" (for want of a better word), indeed, between the sticks but I've also played every outfield position as well.

In one of my trips to Moor Farm with a group of Dutch UEFA B students, we played, and beat, the Moor Farm coaches in a game in which I played right sided midfield. The following year, same position, the game ended up as a draw. That resulted in a penalty shoot out. I was asked to assume my place between the sticks. We won the shoot out.

Sorry GP, can't help on this one. Not seen him play. He played, mainly, in Jong Ajax (86 apps) in the Eerste Divisie which is just about Champ level when it comes to skill level but well down in the more physical side of things. He's very likely to be a good enough footballer but there's always the chance he'll find the Champ a tad too physical. He's 5 foot 8. We've not had much luck with small Dutch players like Anya and, to a lesser extent Kenzo who was good enough when played more forward but, after Ozoh's injury, was only played as a 6, which he's not.

With regard to Banel. I've contacted an acquaintance who used to be part of the F Side Ultras. He says the lad's 2 footed, quick, skilful, needs to beef up mentally and physically.
