Good luck to him. Hometown club with a lot to play for in L1. Never really worked out with us, but he was always available, always worked hard and never moaned.

Would have thought Rooney deserved better than, with all due respect, the National League.

If he couldn't make the grade at Barnsley, then obviously not!

Fair and valid point, but there’s a big gap between L1 and the National League and I always thought JR showed a lot of potential before his bad luck with injuries.

Strong rumours that Derry Murkin, a left back from FC Utrecht is on his way. Solid defensivley and good going forward. Top replacement for Fozzy, IMO.

It seems the deal is done, he will be the left back I mentioned Derby were close to signing in my post 90 above, though I couldn't get a sniff of the name then. He is by all accounts a veru useful player and a position where cover was needed though Elder has been excellent this season.

We have also signed an 18 yr old CB from Shelbourne, Raymond Offor, good to see future recruitment happening as well.

Don't know anything about Derry but hopefully a strong contender for LB, though Elder and Fozzy as back up have done well.

Also sign Szmodics on loan, assume there wasn't time to get a permanent deal through.

Rumours Langas out for 2 months.

As I understand it, Derby didn't want to pay the fee Ipswich demanded.

Murkin. Seen him a few times on telly. Impressed. Started out life as a winger, converted to full back while at Volendam. Fozzy made the same moves from front to back. If he proves as good as (or better than) Foz with the same longevity, we'll have a right good bargain on our hands.

Szmodics. Happy to have him on loan. If he's as productive with us as he was under both JE and JD Tomasson at Blackburn, he'll be brilliant. Career stats of 115 goals in 396 appearances. If he doesn't click with us we can send him back to the Tractors. If he does click, he'll still have 2 years left on his contract and will probably cost as much as Big Pat did. Issue there is that, he'll be 31 early doors next season and, in his position, 2 years down the road there will be zero sell on value so he'll have to get 20 goals a season tp prove worth buying. Fortunately, that decision isn't mine to make or he'd be back to Portman Road this summer, whatever happens.

A window which would indicate that Clowes has great faith in JE to give him value for money.
Players moved out who did a job when needed and our thanks to them esp Ebou. Some gaps in the squad filled and some exciting additions with Smzodics boosting our attacking options even more! An interesting one as we are quite strong upfront esp with the main man due back soon, apparently Smzodics has not done as well as expected with the Tractors so let's hope JE can rekindle his best form.

He's done well everywhere he's been except Ipswich. More than half a chance, IMO, that he'll keep up his career average of better then one in 4.

                      • John Percy interview with Pearce:
Szmodics - paying wages in full, no obligation/option to buy.
                        Fraulo - 200k fee.
Ebou - 500k fee, 375k now, rest in summer.

                        I say:
Fraulo's showings thus far makes that 200K look ridiculously cheap.
I understand that Murkin cost 2M Euro.
Banel's loan gives us cover on both wings
Looks like the opposite of the traditional January window.
