First half we weren't in it, they were far better than us. Having said that, I don't recall a serious save JWZ had to make. 0-0.

2nd half went up and down, them in control, us in control, back and forth and an even 45. We got the opening goal on the hour, low cross from CBT that was slightly behind Morris but he managed to steer it into the net. 1-0 Derby. 68 minutes, Ozoh replaces Kenzo. 2 minutes later Baker gets given the freedom of the pitch, all the time and space he needed to put it away for the equaliser. He got that time and space in exactly the area where Kenzo had been showing more grit and muscle than he did last season. Would he have been there to stop Baker if he hadn't been subbed? Speculation, but that it was from a pocket of space Kenzo had been patrolling sprang straight to mind... 94 minutes, Sanderson comes on and we go 541 to see the game out. 1 minute later a cross sees our reshaped central defensive unit not quite where they should be and we're 2-1 down. We chase the equaliser and get caught on the counter for 3-1.

IMO, in a few weeks, we'll se a different starting XI. Langas in for Batth. Beck in for Fozzy (not that Foz was bad but L'pool haven't loaned us the lad to have him sat on the bench). MF 3 of Ozoh, Ebou and Clark with Kenzo and Tommo getting 20 to 30 minute cameos off the bench. Hopefully, Kenzo will get a more forward role to utilise his skillset, he isn't a 6. The 2 wide players in the 3 are a conundrum. CBT had one moment of magic and then his hamstring went. We need a replacement. Jackson just doesn't do it for me and I think he needs replacing too. For the CBT role we need a left winger in. For Jackson we could play either Wilson or Ward there. Morris will make the CF role his own.

Saturday's MF 3? I'd have swapped Ebou and Kenzo around. Ebou is better defensively and Kenzo is the one with the pass to open things up. As I indicated above, that won't be an issue in a few weeks.

We shall see. Suffice it to say that, without expecting miracles, I have more confidence and hope in our summer signings and current squad than I have for a while but I agree with you, it’ll take a while for players to gel.
Ha ha, Got to have a bit of banter or it gets boring! It was on odd decision to change the back four so late on and that might have cost us a draw, but like you I think Eustace's decisions will win us more pts than we lose.

I'm now hearing that we are going back with a increased bid for Max Johnston, we do need an all round RB, neither Nyambe or Wilson are comfortable there at this level. We also need a winger or wide creative midfielder IMO, but hey no doubt Eustace and the recruitment team know whats required.

Indeed, but at least it’s all friendly banter these days.
Heard the same about Johnston but also heard a Travis rumour.
We could have done with Wilson as an attacking presence on Saturday. Fear Nyambe is going the same way as Kenzo, a glittering start but not much since. Hopefully they’ll come back into form.
Agree with you about what we still need and I’m sure JE recognise it.

To be honest I've never meant to be unfriendly with you, just a wee bit too forceful in expressing my views sometimes.

CBT out for 6 weeks! Feel for the lad, but beginning to think its never going to happen for him at Derby, shame, he has the talent, just glass legs it seems.

Kenzo had a good start with Ozoh as the 6, Ebou as the 8 and him as the AM (#10). Then Ozoh goy injured and Kenzo was played as the DM and that isn't his skillset. Also last season he didn't have the physicality to deal with it. He got stuck in on Satdeh and put himself about in a way he simply couldn't last season. Put in a lot of challenges. Their first goal came from Baker being given way too much time and space in the pocket where Kenzo had been present until his substitution. Might he have not afforded Baker the room had he still been on the park? We'll never know.

All pretty much academic anyway as I'm convinced, once they're all fit enough to start a game, we'll see Ozoh at 6, Clark at 8 and Ebou at 10. IMO, Ozoh IS a 6, Clark IS an 8 but Ebou functions best as a 6 or 8 but doesn't have the guile, the nuance to be a 10.

I wasn’t talking about you…or me. We’ve had our moments and I dare say we’d still differ over the Warne/Rosenior question, but I meant the tone of the forum in general. Much improved of late imo, but there’ll always be a place for argument and banter on any forum.

CBT? Can only agree. So disappointing. He, or a decent winger, is a crucial part of the jigsaw, but if you can perform well in pretty pre season friendlies only to breakdown as soon as the serious stuff starts it doesn’t bode well at all well for the rigours of a Championship winter.

We've certainly had our fair share of sicknotes in recent years, pretty players to watch but too much of a liking for the treatment room. Should have stuck to draughts!
