  • Matchday Thread: Charlton v Rams

Can we follow up saturday's excellent result with another victory?

  • #2
    Not sure: 1-1.
We seem to be slap in the middle of the table, I think we need to pick up some points during February / March, as we'll be the favoured fixture during the run in, and it'll be nice to have a safety net.

We've just seen off the 4th placed side at theirs. Charlton played Sheff U at the Valley, faced 10 men from the 35th minute to 45+2 and the rest of the game they faced 9 men and nicked a 1-0 win. This has to be a win, surely? Play on the front foot like we did at PNE and it's a decent win. I'm going 2-0.

Maybe not. Zetterstom out due to illness. O’Donnell in goal. Good luck to him but a big blow.

An excellent 2-1 win, heck we are currently just 2pts off a play off spot.

Win Friday and, probably temporarily, in the top 6. Could have been easier tonight but great win.

Suspect Watford may get points tomorrow but in Ebou we trust to thwart that. Then on to WBA Friday whose confidence must be sky high after the Norwich game: but sadly we're at home

Another battling 3 points, although we should really have been out of sight before they scored and got the nerves jangling.
Hats off to O’Donnell. Did nothing wrong, decent distribution and made a couple of points rescuing saves after only finding out he was playing at the last minute.

Great win, should have been a bigger margin but it?ll do. Nice to see BBD coming into a bit of form, some nice touches inc the second goal

Yep, that's a top win in the circumstances. I like BBD, his flashes of brilliance will win us points.

Another excellent away performance despite going down to 10 for the nerve wracking end!

Here's a thought on BBD. Hasn't been the most successful player this season so far. Now has 2 goals and 2 assists in the last 4 games. IMO, he didn't become a bad player overnight nor has he greatly improved of late. He's doing the same things. Just maybe, it's taken his teammates this long to get on his wavelength...

Reminds me of something that happened at my local club. A first team regular got picked up by AZ Alkmaar. Played there for several seasons until he retired. he then had a year off playing before coming back to play in our 5th team, the majority of whom had been in our 1st XI with him. First game back he put 4 brilliant [asses in in the opening 10 minutes. Into plenty of space but nobody reacted. I said to him (I was reffing) they need it into feet. He started doing that and they won easily. End of the season he retired again. His footballing brain was way ahead of his old mates.

Charlton? Right result. Made hard work of it. Ought to have been 3 up at HT. Clarke had the good fortune that Langas covered or the 1st card would have been red. CBT showed why he's a bench sitting impact sub at best. Having said that, he hardly got any ball in space. Good cameo from Lars again. Can't blame the keeper for their goal. 5 defenders could/should have put a challenge in. As it was there was only a half hearted nudge in the back from BBD. Held on well when down to 10.

I wonder if the loss of Morris has triggered an uptick in BBD form, as our amended style of play without Morris as a target man may suit him better? I guess we will know if his form tails back off on Morris' return, if and when
