  • Summer Sporting Fix

A Thread we've run a few times, so why not repeat?

How will you you fill your time sports-wise between now and the new footy season?

For me, in order of the amount of time I'll be watching or listening it's cricket, road cycling (starting this week with the Giro), F1, American roundyroundy motor racing, athletics, the remnants of the club rugby union season if Mrs F has it on TV, maybe Scotland's world cup games again depending on the resident Scot. Biggest hope is for Kelly Hodgkinson to beat Jarmila Kratochv?*lová's 800m record some time over the summer

    Anyone?

Giro, Tour, F1, Athletics, World Cup, Golf (PGA, US Open, The Open), Cricket and an occasional Blue Jays game if it's during my waking hours.

No, just the first half of 3. We usually watch reruns of Escape To The Country after theyve gone two down

Cricket except that abomination 'The Hundred', Scotland not doing very well leaving me to follow the other lot in the WC , golf (not playing unfortunately), any motor racing but F1 which I once enjoyed but now find yawnsville, any athletics that are on the box and a bit more golf!
I'll watch all the play offs and the euro finals but not bothered about the FA Cup.
All the above will be subject to my senior citizen nap of course!

"Cricket except that abomination 'The Hundred', Scotland not doing very well leaving me to follow the other lot in the WC**..... " Cant argue with either of those.

** Assuming that you're not referencing MA's thoughts on rear gunners here Mac

Spent part of the weekend watching a 24 hour race from the Nurburgring. My eldest is into that sort and organises online races that get a fair amount of interest. One of the drivers was Max Verstappen. His presence saw the spectator numbers to be 100K more than normal. At 45 euro a throw for the 3 days (tenner for the friday or 27 for the saturday or the sunday) that's an extra 450K in the coffers.

I watched some of that online, some proper racing on there despite the length

Some proper comings together as well.

My lad watches the lot. F1, touring car, endurance.. as well as organising e-races. His driving rig is damned impressive.

My lad's didn't cost 80 grand but it wasn't cheap. He's an airline pilot, single so why not spend 5 or 6 grand on your hobby? There are people who spend that much on a bike.

There are also professional level, professional e drivers who can win a fair amount. One of the bext is Max Verstappen's sim guy. Max admits the guy is faster than him in the sim. The guy, however, is tall, even for a Dutch lad, and doesn't fit in an F1 car.
