  • Spot on Andy imo. Sports stars used to be so much more 'ordinary'. They're now so privileged that sympathy is in short supply.

As regards your 'our politicians shouldn't be funny' comment...that was my point about Boris really.
He may be 'an incredibly clever individual' Gaspode, but having got to know Oxford quite well for four years of my life, I can vouch for the fact that it's full of 'incredibly clever individuals', many of whom look, and often act, as if they struggle to dress, feed and generally look after themselves, let alone represent the nation.

            • I did wonder when I tossed in my theoretical hand grenade as to whether it would reignite the debate!

Johnson ( its a shrewd move by May to put him at the Foreign Office, means as a senior minister he has to forego his lucrative media work and effectively muffles his ability to be off message, means he has to work out in conjunction with his other Brexit mates how to implement it...and take the blame if it goes wrong or is not to the Brexit leaning Tory's tastes.

As for the guy being an effective mayor of London, mm by what standard? Apart from Boris bikes what did he implement that has been of significant benefit to the capital?

                • Johnson's legacy as Mayor didn't seem to do much for the Tory cause. Sadiq Khan whupped Goldsmith with something like 13% more of the vote. Now that is a majority.

Why shouldn't you say it? Though given that 60% of London's population is 'white British' and only about 12.5% Muslim I'm not certain what your point is. Anyway...as you say...COYR.
