refuse to take notice of or acknowledge; disregard intentionally, fail to consider (something significant).

"He/she/they despite being presented with the warnings and evidence of the considerable damage that would be inflicted for years to come, he/she/they inexplicably ignored this and chose to vote 'No' to remaining a member of the European Union."
But whuch warnings are we ignoring Sith?
    WW3
    5 m unemployed
    Emergency Brexit tax
    Planes can't fly over Europe
    House prices falling 40%
Every family 4.5k worse off immediately
    Western political civilization would collapse
The Scots and Welsh would immediately vote to leave the Union

You see, "facts" are difficult to believe in most cases.
    So ignore comes into play

Well on my PC, which is where I usually read this Forum, one can see posters one has on ignore have posted, it allows the option to view the post if one so wishes.

          • At last its beginning to sink in that Brexit has been and will continue to be a failure.

An extraordinary cross-party summit bringing together leading leavers and remainers – including Michael Gove and senior members of Keir Starmer’s shadow cabinet – has been held in high secrecy to address the failings of Brexit and how to remedy them in the national interest, the Observer can reveal.

Laughingly "Lord" Frost, who in 2016 as CEO of the Scotch Whisky Association said despite its faults, leaving the EU would be bad for the UK, and then did an about face post Brexit when he could get his snout in the trough as a "negotiator" is claiming betrayal, but then his and Johnson's deal was shockingly bad. So bad, that an independent report has revealed that they failed to negotiate an agreement with the EU (it was offered) on returning Asylum Seekers that had passed through a safe country to get to the UK, which is what has led (in conjunction with failing to offer a safe, legal route and fast processing of applications)to the increase migrants crossing the channel.

Brexit eh? The gift that keeps giving, the ideology driving an approach which has actually been to the detriment of the UK!

And you reach that conclusion how? I've not (in your schoolboy term) lost anything seeing as I have been completely clear as to how I operate the ignore function on this forum.

Myself and another poster explains how ignore works, you seem unable to grasp the concept, which kind of makes you on a par with Thicky on a comprehension level, which I am a little surprised at as I had thought you had at least some basic cognitive activity.

But no, apparently in your head, the fact that occasionally, I choose to view a post from a poster I have on ignore, or read it when another poster quotes a post, then I do not have Thicky on ignore?

I mean its quite simple and I'm amazed you have expended the effort to keep debating something which I have been absolutely clear about from the start.

But then that is par for the course with you I've noticed. When you casually post an opinion based on nothing more than anecdotal evidence and when you get a response which shows that opinion to be either false or at best barely true, you disappear and ignore any debate. Or you grasp at straws and point out some typographical or grammatical error in one of my posts, as if that had any relevance to the argument.

Yet for some unknown reason you have expended much thought and energy over something as trivial as to whether I have Thicky on ignore or not!

Word of advice Pops, when in a hole, stop digging!!

How can you claim to have anyone on ignore, when you keep replying?
Forget your technical excuses, you're a narcisstic clown who refuses to accept, that you don't even know what ignore means?
You accuse Andy of being obsessed? I look out my back window, expecting to see you in my garden.
What an absolute bell you are.

Nice attempt to get us back on topic, Swale...but what is all this ‘ignore’ bollux...and do we really need a ‘button’?

I think there have been three people on here that I’ve ever decided to ignore. Two because there’ve been times when I’ve found their comments/behaviour just too objectionable and one because they’re Tricky, and although there are times when we can be courteous to each other discussion usually degenerates into something entirely negative and unhelpful which I want no further part of.

At the moment I am ignoring one person, as I believe he is me, but I don’t actually need a bloody button and never have done...I just don’t respond to anything he writes. When I need to I will...until then I ignore/take no notice. It’s that simple.

As regards Swale v Tricky. The argument is so infantile and facile with so much petty point scoring from people who really should know better.
For what it’s worth, and as far as I can tell, Swale only responds to Tricky’s posts when they are quoted by others and he has no control over seeing such quotes.

Whether he replies or not is up to him but can we please stick to the topic, which is probably even more important now than it was approaching seven years ago, and stop wittering on about who’s talking to/ignoring who.
It’s all a bit ‘do you wanna be in my gang’ and just turns people away from what should be a grown up forum based around football and other topical matters.

To be clear rA no I’m not ignoring you nor will I, not responding doesn’t mean ignoring, and you said yourself when there’s something worth responding to, you will as I will. I hope we get back to that position.

                      • Agree totally rA on your last paragraph. This topic is/was exceedingly important but, as seems to happen frequently on this forum, has now degenerated into an 'it's my ball and you're not playing' infants play ground push and shove squabble! It is actually quite pathetic but more importantly it damages the forum and that is unacceptable.
Those involved in this infantile 'oneupmanship' please listen to rA or agree to meet somewhere with your tickling sticks and give us all a laugh.

Thanks mac. I think you’re probably the most senior on here and certainly one of the ‘grown ups’ who seldom, if ever, gets involved in petty ‘oneupmanship’ so perhaps people will take more notice of you as I accept I don’t always maintain your mature standards.

Andy...you’ll notice I didn’t mention you by name but seeing as you’ve brought it up, you are indeed the one person I find it difficult to have any sort of debate with at the moment and thus choose to ignore (which doesn’t mean ‘put’ on ignore). In my opinion you are the antithesis of a good moderator at the moment as you are too inflammatory and prone to favouritism.

It wasn’t always like that but as you know, and others probably don’t, our differences have become far more deep routed of late. Again as you know I’ve offered to sort this with you publicly or privately by pm however you’ve never replied since your last misleading and one sided insinuation. Again, it’s up to you...I’ll happily do it publicly as I have absolutely nothing to hide and have retained copies of our ‘correspondence’. Having said that it’s not, imo, what the forum is for and would be very boring for others. Up to you...ball’s in your court.

P.S. Very fine line between ‘not responding’ and ‘ignoring’, AF. Are we not taught to ‘turn the other cheek’...to ‘take no notice’ and not ‘rise to the bait’? All those things mean one is ignoring what might be termed provocative behaviour which is exactly why I see no need to put people on ignore...there comes a point where it’s best just take no notice.

Just thought I'd view your post and see if you had posted something sentient, but no apparently your so bothered by the fact I ahve you on ignore, you couldn't resist posting a reply.

OMG, you really are Dim aren't you? I mean I'm not quite sure why you and AF get so worked up about me saying I have you on ignore, its bizarre and frankly a little childish! The amount of posts you two do to reply to me, and the way you in particular get really worked up about it is the real comedy gold.

I mean every time I pop the bait out, one or both of you can't resist posting a response, when any half intelligent adult, would just ignore it.

Oh and its cursory glance back at your posts over the last few months would show I don't make a response to most of them, so hardly obsessed my little gammon friend.
