My former club, I played for them, coached the youth goalies for about 10 years and was assistant coach of the "selection" (We had 8 teams, 3 played at a serious level and were the "selection" sides, the other 5 were "beer teams"?
Last season the 1st team played in what is the 8th level of Dutch football (was 7th in my day
). Finished 3rd, level on points with the #1 and #2 thanks to them both having had, respectively, 1 and 2 points deducted for infringements. GD was 23, 21 and 19.
In the same League next season, it looks like. Champs promote automatically. There are 2 places available in the playoffs. They go to the "Period Champions". It's a 24 game season, it is split into 2 "periods" of 12 games. The 2 period winners enter the playoffs unless one of them is also the champions, in which case the #2 from that period gets a playoff place. Naturally, if the Champs also finished top of both periods then the #2 from both would be in the playoffs. Unless, of course, the same team finished 2nd in both periods, in which case the #3 from P2 would take the 2nd PO place.
