Good call, AF. Sad loss. Saw him/them in the ‘70’s. Missed it on the news...or as it may be now be better described...the monumentally dull and self indulgent Prince Harry v Piers ‘kin Morgan show.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostI’ll be playing some Groundhogs today, in tribute to Tony McPhee, leader of that band and expert blues rock guitarist who died yesterday. Seen him many times and he always delivered. Rock On Tony

The news is too often not the news rA, and I don’t just mean the BBC.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostGood call, AF. Sad loss. Saw him/them in the ‘70’s. Another ‘cat’ who passed away recently (I’m writing an obit for my mag) is drummer Dickie Harrell, the last of Gene Vincent’s Blue Caps. A guy I met at rock’n’roll events a few times and friendly to all, RIP Dickie too

Did he play or just sing? Were there any ‘rants’?Originally posted by swaledale View PostAye its a sign of the times. On a more positive note, I saw Roger waters last night and can confirm the 79 year old is still on top form and delivered an excellent 2hrs 40 mins audio visual experience.

That’s one I’d love to have seen, Swale. Complex man, much misunderstood and sometimes maliciously so, imo. 2hrs 40 of excellence...that’s a rare thing these days especially from someone approaching 80.Originally posted by swaledale View PostAye its a sign of the times. He played, guitar, bass guitar, piano. No rants as such, he did talk a lot about stuff, but not in a ranting way, more conversationally. He did express surprise about the fuss in Germany, given he has performed The wall there many times, including 1990 at a concert to commemorate the wall coming down. But as he said, if you dare criticise Israel for how it treats the Palestinians, one gets the full force of the Israeli lobby aimed at you.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostDid he play or just sing? But it was technically excellent, sound and visuals brilliant, and all in all a brilliant nights entertainment which was much appreciated by those who attended.
To my disgust I see Starmer has jumped on the band wagon, what an ignorant **** he is turning out to be.

Re Starmer, using one of my stock phrases, ‘I must have missed 60 Minutes’. Has he declared for Gilmour?

In a way, he has apparently written to the Jewish Board of Deputies saying that Waters is clearly anti Semitic - I mean I don't necessarily agree with all of Waters pronouncements, but he clearly is anti fascist and not in any way anti Semitic, now Starmer must one presumes have listened to The Wall? Does he even even realise there is an Israeli Floyd tribute band called Echoes that have played The Wall in its entirety complete with crossed hammer symbols and uniforms in Tel Aviv, with no comment!!Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostThanks, always interested to hear how the various Floydian factions are doing

The issue is all about Waters supporting the cause of the Palestinians with the Israeli lobby applying pressure and Starmer like some kowtowing **** seems to have fallen into the trap!
I did like the announcement at the start of the gig "For those of you who like Pink Floyds music but don't like Roger's politics, now may be the time to **** off to bar"!

Had fair few old mates in Burton commenting that they could hear it.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostAnyone enjoying Download this eve? We’re 15 miles away and it’s a right old racket! As someone who spent many happy ****age evenings with my head stuck in some bass bin or other, I’m all for it.

This is where the whole thing has gone totally pear shaped bonkers. Most Israelis aren't Semite or descendants of Semites. Many are of Eastern European origin and thus not Semite. Most Palestinians ARE Semite. How on earth can someone who openly supports the Semites of Palestine be anti-semitic?Originally posted by swaledale View PostIn a way, he has apparently written to the Jewish Board of Deputies saying that Waters is clearly anti Semitic
He is anti the Israeli political stance towards the Palestinians. That is NOT anti-semitic.
