To put the violence directed at British Muslims, Black Britons and asylum seeking down to “legitimate grievances” is to fall for one of the most toxic and intentionally divisive falsehoods in the populist handbook: the myth that class and race are diametrically opposed, the assertion that non-white people have no class identity. In this distorted world view, the true working class are the “white working class”, and the difficulties they face are not a consequences of political choices that affect everyone, irrespective of ethnicity, skin colour or faith, but of “elites” putting the needs of minority communities first. As if those minorities are not themselves working class. Boris Johnson’s disastrous government pushed that falsehood whenever it got the chance.

Well well, it seems "our" Nige hasn't been seen in Clacton for a while, no surgery's held and constituents complaining they don't get a reply to emails requesting a meeting!
Also it seems Farage now resides in Belgium and has EU wide freedom of travel. So suckers, Brexit hasn't negatively impacted on him at all and he is it seems not undertaking his duties as an MP. What a surprise!

You never answered my question though, what was the point of that mini-Mein Kampf you posted? Plagiarised no doubt but an impressive word count with no swearingOriginally posted by swaledale View PostOh dear is our resident closet racist upset? Me desperate? Nah just educating the gammons, its my duty to inform the ignorant and biased.
I repeat by the way, Gammon is hate speech, just the sort of thoughtless, childish jibe that starts proper conflict. Maybe that’s what your purpose is?

In other news, Labour MP Thangam Debbonaire, says she spent 9 years as Bristol West MP, prioritising casework for asylum seekers, family visas and other immigration problems over all other things.Originally posted by swaledale View PostWell well, it seems "our" Nige hasn't been seen in Clacton for a while, no surgery's held and constituents complaining they don't get a reply to emails requesting a meeting!

I'll bet her constituents were thrilled.

Shadow secretary of state for culture, media, sport. Guess she decided to concentrate on the culture side of her job and became a home office visa worker?Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostNever heard of her

Her wiki page states 'Debbonaire cites music, knitting and observing space as her hobbies'. I caught her many times on the opposition benches looking into space, so good job there wiki. In my former workplace we used to call that 'working on The Space Project'.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostThanks TTR but Im actually not that interested!Last edited by Andy_Faber; 13-08-2024, 12:25 PM.

Me neither, but felt Swale needed a counter balance from his usual assassination baited hook.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostThanks TTR but Im actually not that interested!
Show me a completely angelic political party. The current one is unravelling its halo very quickly.

‘Unravelling its halo very quickly.’ How exactly?Originally posted by Trickytreesreds View PostMe neither, but felt Swale needed a counter balance from his usual assassination baited hook.

We know you hate the idea of Labour being in power, especially with a huge majority…but what have they actually done wrong?
Parliament hasn’t been ‘sitting’ for most of the time they’ve been in power and when it does reconvene it’s for less than two weeks before the ridiculous Party conference season recess.
All Swale drew attention to was Farage’s hypocrisy and absenteeism and your ‘touché’ response did little, if anything, to counter that…imo.

Jeez RA, if that a Labours halo (whatever that is?) has unravelled, who knows what Reform had? devils wings?Originally posted by ramAnag View Post‘Unravelling its halo very quickly.’ How exactly?

I think Thicky needs to do a bit of research on Reform, not really a political party are they? A private company controlled by a few privately educated rather rich men!!
Its funny really, because I and suspect you, are fairly sceptical about Labour, relieved that somebody is PM who doesn't bandy around meaningless and provocative 3 word slogans but actually seems to be having a serious attempt at governing, but concerned that their right of centre slant will leave untouched some of the more dubious activities of capitalism, but we shall see. I certainly made no claims that Labour would be "perfect" or "angelic", but at least they have actual policies and also they ahve an organisation where the MP's do deal with their constituents issues.
Trying to defend Reform with "whataboutery" is a sign of a person who disregards reality.
Interesting also the veiled criticism from AF, if he thinks Labour is anymore than left of centre on some issues and right of centre on others, it perhaps exposes his own right wing bias?
