And this is a football forum
It is indeed, first and foremost, a football forum, but the fact is that the three political threads have generated 11,223 responses between them.
Probably only fair to discount the Brexit one, which has been running since Adam was a lad, but even allowing for that the other two have an average of 1003 responses each compared with 52 for the current top 5 football responses.

As a moderator what’s more important…a small number of posts where everyone agrees…or a far greater number but with far more contentiousness? I genuinely don’t know the answer.

As a moderator neither are important, I'm not on pay per click

As a person the political threads just make me thankful I never talk politics, or suffer others doing so, in real life

Ah but of those 11223 posts, about 7500 have said "Brexit baaaa'd" (no sheep intended) and another 1500 have said ""Tories are baaaa'stards". The remaining 2223 belong to Tricky-bollux.

        • Forever grateful to Biden, but after the latest two embarrassing and sad gaffs at the NATO summit, enough is enough.
Trump will never be fit for office but Biden, for entirely different reasons, surely isn’t any more. Thanks, but time to go, Joe.

Agree, it's sad but he'll lose votes to trump because of it. It only increases trumps chances .

            Go enjoy your life Joe.

            • Whilst labour gets on with the "boring" job of fixing the mess left by 14 years of Tory incompetence The Reform party will continue to provide entertainment.

First it seems many candidates either don't actually exist or were just "paper" candidates, who didn't canvass or appear anywhere in the constituency. Still it seems those gammons not put off by promised tax cuts that weren't costed, but it seems would cost 3 x what the cray Truss proposals, or the bold claim that climate change is a huge hoax or even the suggestion that obeying international law, was only for wimps and the Uk should be more like Russia, Belarus and China and that our brave servicemen would welcome the chance to push back asylum seekers to France (I heard one candidate actually suggested shooting them as they came ashore!)and hence a battle with the French navy, I guess starting a war closer to home is more tangible and would help Farage's mate Putin!

Meanwhile they are already fighting amongst themselves!!

You would have thought there were plenty of jobs to go round in Reform as they only have five MPs. As befits a narcissist, Nigel Farage is obviously leader as well as Treasury, Home and Foreign Office spokesperson. That still leaves loads for Dicky Tice and the others to be doing. As it is, Dicky has been upgraded to deputy leader – a promotion that must feel like a demotion as only six weeks ago he was the undisputed leader. Anyway this move has pissed off Ben Habib, the former deputy leader who didn’t make it into the Commons and is now bad-mouthing Farage. Lee Anderson is now the party’s whip. It’s his job to make sure the other four vote the same way as him. Delusions of grandeur.

I reckon there will be a split before the end of the year, into separate right wing equally bat **** crazy parties at which point Braverman will defect to lead the crazier half and Farage will be in the US with Trump!

              • Broadening the election bit to include the US.... IMO, Trump just won the election.

As much as I abhor the bloke, they should not be trying to take him out. If they'd been successful, his replacement would have won. As it is, Trump will win, hands down.

Again, IMO, a Trump win will ignite the word Fear from this thread's title.

The ‘election bit’ of the thread was always intended to include the U.S, MA, but I think you are absolutely right.

A combination of Biden’s recent performances and the ‘sympathy’ that will be generated by this assassination attempt will have put Trump well ahead.

Fortunately a lot can still emerge and change in the four months before the U.S. election, but at the moment I would agree, Trump will benefit enormously from this assassination attempt and, as someone with a son and daughter in law and two young granddaughters resident in the U.S. the prospect of a Trump revival is a source of both personal and political fear.

                    • I wish the Democrats would wake up and replace Biden. He's had 4 years but is clearly struggling with his health, 4 years on he will likely be much worse.

I don't think he's actually as bad as some say, he's just 81 and elderly people can struggle, he'll be fine in every day life but the pressure of being president will magnify the problems he may have.

I think it's horrific what's happened today, especially as innocents were I killed and injured. I don't like Trump but it's awful what's happened but I do think he's going to benefit from it ultimately.

But but but , its the right who are a danger.
Of course, the left don't try to shut anyone down do they? They've tried every way imaginable to shut Trump down. They failed and its come to this. LHO, thought life in lefty land was paradise, and we all know how that turned out.

Why does Trump fill you with so much dread and fear(do you need a hug?)

He may not be everyones cup of tea personality wise, but when he was in charge, there were no wars/ strikes on foreign lands. The ethnic communities had never had it so good, with their standards of living.
The economy was going great guns and they even outrode COVID better than most
He put in place immigration controls that had the left screaming blue murder. Ironically, they have now been reinstated by the Biden regime, due to the USA, being flooded and unable to cope, with the left actions being so soft?

I do agree, that their obsession with getting rid of him, has just handed it him on a plate. Biden is a doddering corpse with all the social cohesion of a labotomised badger. Its actually rather sad how they abuse an old man like this.

Thanks MA. Imagine they’ll be okay. It’s just a question of to what extent things polarise over the forthcoming months, a situation made even more dangerous by the number of nutters with guns over there, as DT may have, ironically, just discovered.

Agree Sith. Biden may be able to function perfectly well as an elderly person who’s just become a bit forgetful and is prone to a ‘slip of the tongue’. Unfortunately he’s the ‘leader of the free world’ and there’s a reason why most people usually retire in their sixties.

Before TTR went and spoiled it with his usual hobnail boots effort, I was going to ask a genuine question, please still take it as such - do you GENUINELY mean fear? What ACTUAL difference is Trump likely to make that instills fear into you? And whats the difference between personal and political fear? To me you can have personal fear caused by political actions or intentions, but political fear? I don't get that and maybe its a because I wake up in the morning worried about if the dogs done a woopsy on the kitchen floor rather than who's in power. Genuine question, if I understood what made people not like me tick I might not be so 'aggressive' or dismissive as youve asserted

I think, and I've watched it a number of times, Biden almost called Trump 'The President' in his statement this am

Grow up Tricky. For every Reagan and Trump there’s a Kennedy and a Martin Luther King and for every Jo Cox there’s a David Amess. No one has said otherwise.
Why does Trump fill me with such fear? He doesn’t, apart from being the personification of greed, dishonesty, divisiveness and political irresponsibility, but as it happens I was in the U.S. during his campaign against Hilary Clinton and the atmosphere was ‘difficult’ at times.
Things haven’t improved in that respect and you’d be well advised not to confuse the political and the personal.
