  • I believe the expression is "bent as a 9 bob note" since 10 bob notes were legal tender up to the late 60's.

That said I think 10/- was the easiest not to forge

    • Unfortunately, everything they've, rightly, been hammered for is legal. It all has to be declared and, it seems, it has been declared. Many of the Blue Tory "nose in the trough" incidents weren't, IIRC, declared until they were pushed into doing so.

When it comes to how they're doing, the main points like immigration, the economy etc won't be visible this year and possibly next as well. By the end of next year I would hope there to be some signs of the progress they have hinted at. We shall have to wait and see.

He's said quick fixes won't work which is why he won't be using any.

No mention of it, until after the election. No better than the Tories and bent as a 10 bob note.

LABOUR’S appointee to a plum government job is linked with a Cayman Islands-based hedge fund which donated £4 million to the party, The National can reveal.

Rachel Kyte has been appointed to the revived UK Government climate envoy role – which when it last existed commanded a salary of at least £130,000.

She is the co-chair of the Quadrature Climate Foundation’s advisory board, which was founded by the same people behind the hedge fund Quadrature Capital.

Quadrature, which holds hundreds of millions of pounds of shares in fossil fuels, private health firms, and arms manufacturers, donated £4m to Labour ahead of the General Election, the investigative news site openDemocracy revealed earlier this month.

Not to mention the £6 million before the election ny the Green zealots
Nobody cares what you post, or think is perhaps the answer?

              Hang on, June 2024

Starmer said on Monday that Labour's plans were "fully costed" and "fully funded". "They (our plans) don’t require tax rises over and above those that we have already set out..
Now considering he has spent years slaughtering the Tories ( who deserved it) , what exactly have we seen since?
A attack on pensioners, that even his own members are screaming about, after he lied that nothing would happen. Money given away on green freebies to Africa. Pay rises given in to, to satisfy unions.

YET- we have a chancellor screaming about a phantom £21 billion black hole, who despite shouts of proof, are never revealed.
We all know whats coming, tax rises for all. You cannot scream theres no money , yet still give it away.

In essence Starmer has done what all politicians do. Lie through his teeth. Now it seems they are just as deep into hedge funders who they portray to despise as well.

I still believe he won't be here inside a year. His pay masters, will not like this one bit and will eventually turn on him. Its inevitable.

ps. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when he meets Trump. I wonder if he'll take Lammy with him?

                2. A attack on pensioners, that even his own members are screaming about, after he lied that nothing would happen.

                3. Money given away on green freebies to Africa.

                4. Pay rises given in to, to satisfy unions.

                1. You'd be correct, and might be, if Red Tories had been given ALL the relevant info by the Blue Tories. They are inferring they weren't. You and I do not know the truth of the matter so can't really comment until we do. Unless we provide caveats of if this otherwise that...

                2. Maybe semantics but he said he wouldn't raise taxes other than the ones set out in the manifesto. They haven't done that. They have merely stopped paying an allowance. No tax has been increased.

                3. I have no idea what new monies he has agreed to pay other countries for "green" issues. Maybe you could enlighten me.

                4. Pay rises. One Rail Trade Union accepted a rise. HMG did get involved and the Blue Tories ensured the dispute went on and on and on. That cost the country a lot of money. There comes a time when reaching a compromise actually saves money. The Red Tory HMG solved the dispute to save money. Now, to get away from what happened and to get to my opinion, HMG, whatever the colour should never have been involved in wage negotiations between Rail staff and the PRIVATE company for whom they work. That the dispute was purely down to HMG getting involved is there for all to see. the companies could and would have compromised IF HMG had allowed them to.

NHS Junior Doctors. Following a 7 year degree course they were working for between £14 and £15 an hour SAVING LIVES. The money they were on was a disgrace. Under the Red Tories, a compromise was reached.

                5. The cry is £22Bn, not 21. As with #1. It's all down to whether 100% of the info was passed on pre election or not. Again, neither you nor I know nor are we likely to.

                • It's true we mere mortals have no idea who is telling the truth, the previous government say they are, the new government say they are

I would guess the truth is somewhere in between.

What concerns me is the speed Reeves announced it was being cut. It was less than a month into the new government's term, I'm just not convinced you can do a full assessment of the countries finances and then carry out a full analysis of the spend and fall upon winter fuel allowance as the 1st thing that has to go within those timescales.

She claimed she didn't want to do it but is on record previously saying she would make it means tested, it does appear she was looking for a reason to do this.

The money was pledged in 2021 at the COP meeting. The point is, if WE AS a nation have a deficit, that money should be going no where. How come, you can clobber pensioners, but send money over seas?

                    • There is a lot of rumours about Starmers past running through Parliament regarding his past. Its supposed to be an open secret, regarding what the shape of his familiy really looks like?
Now West Minster is known for its sleezy secrets , maybe he'll just fit right in?

Watch this space, as apparently the tabloids know.

Od course it should be means tested. But to use the black hole excuse for the blanket ban, doesn't add up.
It comes across more as vindictive, when you consider so many other places 1,8 billion could be shaved off.

I've seen a few x.com posts that something is coming out. I'll be honest I think it's rubbish. I'm not a Starmer fan but what this country does need is stability.

If what I've read is true then him having to resign would be a travesty, I'm not going to say what I've read though.

well no one can until its either proven or admitted.
Stability or not, more proof of how crap todays politicians are.

Is Bliar waiting in the wings?

Really? So I've been posting many long winded rants in capitals based on what's been spouted by mostly right wing media and internet sources?

I've been posting false accusations (Me thinks saying Starmer is bent might be a wee bit libellous, but then obviously you wouldn't make it or repeat it without proof would you? ) have I?

It does seem that most of the time you post without actually understanding what your posting? I mean if you did, then you wouldn't post it.
