Agreed. Fears may continue but the elections are done.

I’m also fairly sure of one other thing…you are not going to see disappointed Harris supporters and Democrats behaving in the way Trump supporters did in Washington after he’d lost last time around.
The Democrats ****ed this one up royally. Biden clung on and nobody had the guts to shift him before it was too late, Harris was a very weak candidate and seemed to think offering hope was all that was required.

But the rank stupidity of the US electorate is mind boggling, but then again millions in the Uk voted for a party led by a known liar and incompetent in Johnson, who I would not be surprised will reappear again.

Still I'm sure the billionaires will be happy and we shall see the benefits flow towards the "working class" and poor in the US that voted for the criminal...NOT!!

I didn't know Starmer had convictions!
Ha ha, I was of course referring to Bibi!

No one is disputing that the question of immigration is ‘very important’…and that’s not just the case in the U.S, however Trumps rallying cry throughout this election has been, ‘are you better off now than you were five years ago’…and that, imo, has been where this election has been won and lost.

Have you seen Trump’s famous wall? I have, or at least a large chunk of it between Arizona and Mexico. It’s a joke…let’s just say the East Germans of the early 1960’s could have taught him a thing or two.
Thicky is wrong, the economy was the main issue and the fools believed he will "fix" it, nuff said really.

            • If Trump gives any group any tax breaks, it will be his friends in the top 10% of earners.

The Americans seem to be blaming Biden for inflation, high food and petrol prices etc. They don't seem capable of grasping the fact that the entire world has been suffering exactly the same because of WORLDWIDE issues. It doesn't matter who is in charge, they can't stop worldwide market trends affecting the USA. Although there is a little voice inside my head saying they'd forgive Trump for inflation on his watch.

                  Read post #2061.

Musk's also going to make a shedload of moolah with Trump's easing or removal of constraints on bit-coin.

(hyphen added to avoid swear filter for some strange reason)

I think it's both as it came up as 7 *s, with the - in there, there's no *s

Also, why on earth would it be deemed a swear word? It's as daft as banning vi-tal.

That’ll be the same Neil Oliver who described lockdown as ‘the biggest single mistake in world history’, who likened opposing the government’s anti COVID strategies to standing in defiance of Nazi Germany, who condemned the efforts to vaccinate UK children against COVID and who makes regular claims of fear mongering over climate change.

He’ll be worth listening to then, not surprised he works for GBNews.

Ah but, yeah but, no but rA... those of a certain persuasion actually agree with Oliver and think the rest of the world to be eejits. Lockdown was a sensible thought, vaccinating people was a good idea, climate change is real.

Lockdown. It looked like Covid was going to be huger than it ended up being and not locking down could have wiped out half the population or more if not checked. IMO, the only thing wrong was that it went on longer than was probably necessary. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. However, they were on a hiding to nothing. Damned if they did something, damned if they didn't.

Vaccines. Not enough time to go through all the tests normally needed for new meds and vaccines to get approval. Again, they were on a hiding to nothing. Damned if they did something, damned if they didn't.

Climate change. The climate is nothing like it was when I was a kid. We can now get all 4 seasons in a single day. When it's sunny, it's a heatwave. When it rains, it pours. When it's windy, it's always a gale. Far more storms, far more typhoons/hurricanes the world over.

                              • Elections? Looks like Germany is falling apart at the seams, politically. New elections predicted in the first quarter of 2025 and the far right AfD is expected to get a landslide. The Dutch coalition is starting to fall apart. At Minister's Questions yesterday, the Immigration Minister was defending her new budget, and failing dramatically. From 2027, she's reducing the budget for the IND (Immigratie en Naturalisatie Dienst) and the COA (Centraal Orgaan opvang asielzoekers) by 80%. She failed to address the shortfall she's planning for. Over the next few years they intend to allow less immigrants, be they coming here to work, study or to apply for asylum. There's a huge backlog of asylum claims. They're stopping the funding now and laying people off who work in the 2 departments. How do they intend to clear the backlog? How are they going to fund it?

The role of the lower house in the Netherlands, is to act as a control mechanism for Cabinet plans. The Minister was unable (or unwilling) to answer MPs questions. It was a debacle. She really ought to be sacked and replaced with someone capable as she, clearly, isn't.

I've said all along that this coalition wouldn't last long. Looks like I'll be right.

For me, the biggest problem is that the far right PVV, who currently have 39 of the 150 seats and is the largest party of the 15 with 1 or more seats, will get significantly more at the election.

How many more will follow and see the EU fall apart?
