I see Ed Davey is refusing to attend a dinner as part of Trumps state visit. Good on him.

That’s your opinion. I don’t know what the dire consequences you speak of are, but I see you’ve been noticeably silent on the accusations of racism issue.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostI beg to differ, I think positions are becoming entrenched (on many issues) and the consequences of not ticking all your side?s boxes can be direLast edited by ramAnag; 28-08-2025, 05:32 PM.

That’s fine when you’re Ed Davey and have nothing to lose. I sympathise, but it’s a little harder when you’re PM and trying to maintain relationships with world leaders however objectionable they/he may be.Originally posted by SithHappens View PostI see Ed Davey is refusing to attend a dinner as part of Trumps state visit. It's a good position Davey is on but he's still made that call

Answering the second part first: 1) I have a life that this forum doesnt form part of, 2) I respond at my own pace and 3) I asked a question, you responded, issue closedOriginally posted by ramAnag View PostThats your opinion. Regarding the first part, you need to become more well read /researched

Hmmm…evasive as ever when challenged I see.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostAnswering the second part first: 1) I have a life that this forum doesn?’t form part of, 2) I respond at my own pace and 3) I asked a question, you responded, issue closed

1) I imagine we all do…and your point is?
2) Again I imagine we all do.
3) I answered your question. Responded with another. You couldn’t/wouldn’t answer.
Regarding your final sentence, I’d love you to substantiate that. I’d suggest I’m at least as well read/researched as you despite the high opinion you appear to hold of yourself.

Now now RA, you know AF, considers himself a person who objectively looks at issues and provides informed, unbiased Comment, despite occasions when the masks slips and he complains about the "number of ethnic minorities in the media" not reflecting HIS world, or that Starmer's misspeak over "An island of strangers" was something that chimed with him (despite the obvious contradiction with his previous comment) Or that some of Trumps bullying is "good" especially on DEI, Government efficiency ( though he then failed to explain what he meant by that).Originally posted by ramAnag View PostHmmm evasive as ever when challenged I see.

Apparently now he won't respond because he finds the references to Nazi Germany and other such comments tiresome, which I'm sure they re and precisely what many Germans said when they voted enthusiastically for a certain Her Hitler, with his flag waving, promises to fix a "broken Germany" and targeting of the Jews as the cause of all Germany's ills.
Still nothing to see here in the UK, its not as if flags, removing human rights, the false demonization and targeting of a sector of the population is going on is it. Nor is there any evidence of groups of thugs going around the country either, so nothing to worry about.

By implication you did, but the whole point is, AF…your response in post #3921 wasn’t remotely ‘reasoned’. It was an all too typical attempt at divide and rule based, at best, on deliberate misinterpretation. You were wrong, but I forgot…you never can be can you?Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostI didn?t offer any opinion on myself, just frustrated that when I make a comment on my view on an issue it?s met met with personal criticism to a reasoned response

Oh here we go. Start something and then fall back on the wounded martyr routine.Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostSo, after a brief respite, we?’ve returned to responding to posts we don?’t like by indulging in personal attacks. I must say I had little hope and my expectations have been met
Off to follow mac’s advice and cut some grass.
