So…you have the time to make inane and provocative asides, but not to answer sensible questions. I rest my case.

Do you not pay your TV license?

To misquote Kipling, you’re a better man than I am Gunga Swale. Admire your stance, but I have to admit to needing my fix, particularly of RL and cricket…although I’d make an exception as regards this morning’s pitiful performance by England’s batsmen.

What part of Sky or other such platforms do you not understand?

The BBC and indeed ITV have covered football for decades, the fees they pay and have paid for showing highlights and some cup games have clearly not contributed to the flow of hundreds of millions into football and especially the premier league and created the situation we have today.

            • Imagine if these hotel protest and flag shagging halfwits instead protested about real things that would improve their lives tangibly like better and cheaper housing, cheaper energy bills, re-joining the EU , better wages, nationalisation of Water, Railways/ public transport, Royal mail, energy companies, better schools and properly taxing the super rich and stopping foreign companies from buying up property and land in UK or undertook useful actions within the community they live that would improve people's lives/

There is a subtle difference between drawing attention to how the "Good Germans" voted the Nazi's in power and weren't that bothered when they were promising, the return to the glory days of Germany persecuting minorities such as Jews, immigrants, Gypsies etc. and pointing out how there is a similarity with what's happening today and calling people Nazi's.

But I suspect such subtly is perhaps beyond your powers of deduction? As it indeed it seems to be with many other people who swallow the utter bilge pumped out by the Daily Fail, whose memorable pre- WW2 headline was "Hurrah for the Blackshirts"!

Indeed RA, yet he claims to want to stop petty insults and point scoring, mm.

Wrong again, just logically wrong - If they've paid ? hundreds of millions for those rights, which they have, they they and by extension you clearly HAVE contributed to 'the situation we have today'. Your virtue signalling (lapped up by rA) is just cheapskating really

Oh God, here we go again. ‘Your virtue signalling (lapped up by rA) is just cheapskating really’.

…and your personal comments, point scoring, cheap shots and sad attempts at division are exactly what was being criticised by another poster recently.

On topic. Clearly licence payers are not to blame for the current situation, but those, including myself, who do pay a monthly amount to Sky (and others) specifically in order to have direct access to high quality coverage of live sport, do have to take a proportion of the blame.

Sorry to continue the discussion, but what are you 'blaming' yourself for? a product is being offered, you're buying it at the market rate, what's the issue? the point I'm incidentally making about Swale and your adorationof it is that neither subscribing to a sports TV package nor not subscribing are actions to be proud about, they are just one of many decisions about what to do with disposable income. I don't currently watch road cycling because its gone behind a pay wall but I'm not looking for sainthood for the decision

                        • Back on the ACTUAL subject of the Thread.

Shouldn't you be ranting about the latest crooked activities of a member of the country's leadership group? You and your buddy used to delight in it. Double standards perchance?

Why are you ‘sorry’ to continue a discussion? It’s your hypocritical personalised point scoring and evasiveness that pisses me off, never discussing.

I’m not blaming myself at a personal level, but it is a fact that the contributions millions of us make to Sky has led to inflated costs in terms of players wages, transfer fees and ticket prices etc, where as the licence fee just goes to fund all aspects of the BBC and it’s payment is a legal requirement for most.

Who is looking for a ‘sainthood’ and what am I meant to be adoring? Sadly I honestly think you’ve lost the plot lately.

Assuming you mean Rayner, then only time will tell.

Her statement does seem reasonable and the suggestion is she has made a mistake rather than break any laws.

Of course Badenoch is all over it calling for her to quit. Ed Daveys response seems more considered.

If it comes out it was a deliberate act and proves to be unlawful then calls for her to quit might be valid.

Almost completely agree with that very reasonable response. The only thing I’d change is to the final sentence, by saying, ‘If it comes out it was a deliberate act and proves to be unlawful then calls for her to quit WILL be valid.’
                                Until then….
