Mm thats rich coming from someone who parrots fake right wing memes such as "sharia law" or "uncontrolled immigraton" or makes statements such as "90% of the population aren't sensible" (sic), demands evidence on statements and when presented with it, goes silent and fails to acknowledge they were wrong, misguied or perhaps unaware?

So it would seem TACO, Trump Always Chickens Out, has occurred? Maybe your comment re dumping treasury bonds was a major factor and his "advisers" pointed out the negative economic effects it would have on the US and more to the point on his reputation?Originally posted by Ram Pant View PostPS - if he does take Greenland by force, I expect EU and NATO countries to dump their US Treasury Bonds and that will cripple the US financially. I don't think it will become all out war because European countries don't, IMO, have the balls and that might not be a bad thing. Fanta face has his finger on the nuclear button. Anything is possible when he throws a tantrum. Great Britain nd France both have a nuclear arsenal as well. I hope this balance prevents either side from pushing the button.
In other news, the DOJ is after yet another Congress member who reminded service personnel that the Constitution instructs them to refuse illegal orders. DJT seems to be passing the dictator stage and going full on tyrant.

Farage was a "died in the wool" Thatcherite before he become the man of many parties! Tice the same. What all have in common including those just joined is that their ambition is out of proportion to their ability.Originally posted by Ram Pant View PostAren't all the Reform Ltd MP's former Blue Tory politicians. Aren't all the Reform Ltd career politicians not yet elected as Reform Ltd MP's former Blue Tory MP's. Does that not make them all, current and prospective Reform Ltd MP's, part of the collective failure that went before?
That's the idiocy of it all. So many Blue Tories who are part of the problem changing horses in a vain attempy to win a long lost race? They'll simply do more of the same and make things worse rather than better.Last edited by swaledale; 22-01-2026, 04:34 PM.

If you persist in making snarky comments, I'll respond in kind. If you continue to demonstrate an ignorance and lack of understanding of the issues at hand, I'll correct you!Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostBeing nasty to posters rather than addressing actual issues you may feel uncomfortable with is in your DNA Swale but there?s always chance for redemption, focus on the issues at hand eh?
Bearing in mind you posted a a condescending and aggressive response to my inncuous post about iphones, where I made no claim other than I was sure I'd read something, I rather think your in no position to lecture me about being nasty and I'd have thought having been made such a fool of you'd perhaps think twice before continuing in the same vein, but no, clearly self awareness isn't your thing.
I'm not uncomfortable with any issue, well I might be with the concept of "good bullying"! I do find it funny when you post something you think is smart only to demonstrate you haven't a clue. As in this case, where clearly you do not understand what the phrase "Good Germans" means. anyway feel free to continue to look a little silly.Last edited by swaledale; 22-01-2026, 04:36 PM.

Agreed. Matthew Parris - a decent and compassionate Tory - has suggested that ‘if one was to remove ambition from the core of Robert Jenrick he would collapse like a boneless chicken’. There are far too many who fit that description.Originally posted by swaledale View PostFarage was a "dyed in the wool" Thatcherite before he become the man of many parties! Tice the same. SO Nigel Farage failed to declare on time more than £380,000 of outside earnings in the parliaments register of interests. This is blatant ignorance of parliamentary rules.
I feel sorry for the people of Clacton, because it also proves that he is more interested in lining his pockets with outside work like appearances on GB News than representing his constituents.
Yet this is the man who wants to be prime minister. A man who called for by-elections for party defectors before the General Election yet now does the opposite after. And a man who claims Britain is broken even though more than half of his MPs were part of the very government that broke it.
What a shambles of an MP and what a shambles of a party.

Of course you don't, I mean why allow a few facts and reality affect your views? That would be a rational person speaking.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostOoh what happened, my new year's resolution was not respond to Swale so haven't seen anything - not that I give a fig.

Davos. Love it. Fantaface lies as if his life depended on it. Economy up. Jobs up. Unemployment down. Inflation beaten, China has no working wind farms (generated 989 TerraWatt Hours in '24, '25 figures will be considerably higher. For comparison, in '23 the UK used 309TWH, the USA 407TWH, ergo China could power both the US and UK from wind energy). Everything he said was false apart from him getting the European NATO countries to pay more into NATO. He then spoilt it by claiming the US paid almost 100% of NATO's costs last year. It was 62%.
He then says he won't invade Iceland (meaning Greenland, of course), Has a meeting with Mark Rutte and leaves with exactly what he already had. The ability to build his Golden Dome, or part of it, on Greenland. Something he could already do under the original NATO Treaty signed in 1951.
Now you have MAGA mutts online claiming he "played" NATO". More proof, if it was needed, that there's dumb, dumber and MAGA.

I know your feeling a little chastened after getting it completely wrong over my iphone post, but you do realise that by repeating this nonsense your just making yourself look very silly when you say something that patently isn't true! Perhaps you need to read my post again? Or is it just you get very upset when shown to be wrong?Originally posted by Andy_Faber View PostYou?ve done it again, and in the mean time did it to GP, and I can only repeat, being nasty to posters rather than addressing actual issues you may feel uncomfortable with is in your DNA but theres always chance for redemption, focus on the issues at hand eh?
I belive there is a word that describes people like yourself who lecture others about what they should say and do, whislt exhibiting that same behaviour themselves! I just can't think of it at the moment, but I'm sure others on here will!
I'd advise you to perhaps wind your neck in and stop lecturing people and focus on, 1) Being less aggressive 2) getting your facts right before launching attacks on others 3) Stop lecturing others about what they say and do 4) Have more self awareness so that you don't lose more credibility than you already have.
Just a bit of friendly advice that will make the Forum a nicer place and allow you some redemption!Last edited by swaledale; 23-01-2026, 10:06 AM.

In the interview with Fox News, Trump said: Weve never needed them. Theyll say they sent some troops to Afghanistan and they did, they stayed a little back, a little off the frontlines.
Calvin Bailey, a Labour MP and former RAF officer who served alongside US special operations units in Afghanistan, said Trumps claim bears no resemblance to the reality experienced by those of us who served there.
The Conservative MP Ben Obese-Jecty, who served in Afghanistan as a captain in the Royal Yorkshire Regiment, said it was sad to see our nations sacrifice, and that of our Nato partners, held so cheaply by the president of the United States.
Tan Dhesi, the chair of the Commons defence committee, said the US presidents comments were appalling and an insult to our brave British servicemen and women, who risked life and limb to help our allies, with many making the ultimate sacrifice.
The foreign affairs committee chair, Emily Thornberry, described the comments as so much more than a mistake, and an insult to the families of those who had died.
Trump has previously been criticised for avoiding being conscripted to fight in Vietnam after being diagnosed with bone spurs in his heels a medical claim that has been subject to significant doubt.

Correct no PM function even for mods. No idea about TTR's whereabouts. Mod privileges have been curtailed drastically in the past couple of years so I can't 'interrogate' (it used to be down to Ip address level which was a bit 'off' IMO and I only used it once when chasing a rogue user), including whether he's just quiet (he posted about a month or so ago) or left - there is no 'latest activity' date on his profile which might suggest he's deactivated his account but I think not revealing activity was an option when I first joined, might be wrong on that.Originally posted by Ram Pant View PostAs there's no PM function these days, I'll ask the question here. Is TTR back in Thailand or has there been something happen that I missed and he's left (or been pushed)?
Not been pushed by me, he'd had a few yellow cards and warning PMs when I had that 'power' but he wasn't even top of the list for expulsion, but for some time mods appear not to have any sanction power at allLast edited by Andy_Faber; 23-01-2026, 11:03 AM.
