Superficially I agree, but it is against the rules for a mayor to stand and AB’s term does last until 2028.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostBas misjudgement by Labour I feel. He should now stand as independent and ****em
Doubtless the truth of the situation will get lost amongst the various agendas, from Labour’s own to that of the press and political rivals seeking to instigate infighting within the Labour Party.
Doubt very much that he’ll go down the independent route. Too loyal for that, imo.

Not so sure, Burnham has been on manouvres for months, so has really only himself to blame, if he'd not claimed to be the messiah and gone about matters quietly he might have had a chance.Originally posted by Geoff Parkstone View PostBas misjudgement by Labour I feel. Then there is the real risk that Labour could lose both the by election and the Mayor of Manchester, the by-election is unimportant, voter soften give governments a kicking and we are far enough off an election for it not to be an issue. Losing the Mayorolty would be a disaster.
Then there is the issue of it costing north of £4 million to run an unnecessary mayoral election at a time when public funds would be better spent elsewhere.
Of course the counter argument is that Burnham might well be a a good candidate for leader, If Starmer stands down is removed, but frankly the last thing Labour needs to be doing at this time is swapping leaders and seen to be distracted by internal issues.
On balance my view is that it was the correct decision for now, Burnham will get his chance to become an MP, might not be a bad thing if he exhibits some humility, rather than stir things up. But hey thats politics for you.

Meanwhile, Fantaface has done a wild broadcast on live TV, telling more porkies and getting angry with anybody who isn't a brown noser.
It seems that Republican members of both houses are starting to turn against him and that impeachment is just around the corner. I sincerely hope so as the Western World in general and the USA in particular need the maniac gone asap. Canada seems to be leading the way. $1Trillion trade deal with China that will badly hurt the US car industry. Now it seems US crab(meat) is being rejected and Canada has stepped in and is reaping the rewards.
He's already stiffed the US soya bean growers, now it's the turn of car plants and crab fishermen. Apparently 1.1M less jobs than when he took office. Yet he is telling the world everything is great...

It seems the situation in Minneapolis is what’s going to undo him RP. Completely insane.Originally posted by Ram Pant View PostMeanwhile, Fantaface has done a wild broadcast on live TV, telling more porkies and getting angry with anybody who isn't a brown noser.

He genuinely seems to be sufficiently deluded to believe that if he says something often enough and shouts it loud enough then it becomes true.
I suppose it’s worked for him so far, but what people are seeing on TV, together with the financial stuff you refer to has surely got to finish him before much longer.
Suppose the questions are, how does it end (convenient ‘heart attack’?) and will Vance be any better?

As Vance has backed him all the way, maybe he gets impeached as well as Noemi and the blond bombshell (cough) who does the White House press conferences.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostIt seems the situation in Minneapolis is what’s going to undo him RP. Completely insane.

After this ****show, surely, the Dems could put anybody up against the Reps candidate and win a landslide, couldn't they? Especially if it happens to be Gavin Newsom.
