Feels as if the world is being held to ransom by a combination of the deranged POTUS and Netanyahu who has been doing a decent impression of Ming the Merciless for the last three or four years.

Perhaps the completely disastrous scenario regarding the Strait of Hormuz wasn’t entirely predicted by Trump and his cronies, in which case their incompetence as regards military and economic strategy has been frankly astonishing.

More likely, in Netanyahu’s case, he - and his supporters - see an extension of this conflict as a means of justifying further atrocities and postponing his eventual and surely inevitable trial for war crimes.

Has there ever been a time since the end of WWII when our world leaders (the two aforementioned plus Putin) have been so incompetent and unscrupulously lacking in morality?
Trump and Netanyahu make Putin look positively sane and reasonable, which says a lot!

    • At least they stick to their guns (no pun) and not like Farage and Badenoch who openly called for us to support death and destruction until they changed their minds because they read the public response incorrectly. As Starmer said about them, in his position you don't get a 2nd chance when it comes to sending your forces off to war.

      • See Reforms strapline for the upcoming elections is Vote Reform Get Starmer Out

They have vans around with it plastered on the side. Well Farage and co's last vehicle based promise about 350 million never materialised, and i don't think it will this time.

        • Netanyahu is also desperate to stay in power as he is looking at losing the next elections would see him voted out and then he'd have to go to court to face the corruption charges he's keen to avoid.

Think the Ukrainians might disagree, but I know what you mean. The bar is at an all time low and he’s certainly no worse. The ‘might is right’ philosophy just sees the world being run by unscrupulous bullies at the moment.

              • At a low point, perhaps, but an all time low? I think you need to revisit the 30s and 40s before describing Trump/Netenyahu's few weeks of rancour as "all time" low.

                • Its a different Era but one might say Trumps threat to kill 90 million Iranians is running Hitler close in the evil stakes.

Indeed, as I said, ‘since the end of WWII’…aka the 40’s and Netanyahu’s ‘rancour’ has lasted a great deal longer than a ‘few weeks’.

                    • I suppose he has ended lots of wars, even those the countries didn't even know they were involved in.

                      • Resignation forthcoming? Has to be on the cards.

Of course this is only in the times, no other publication has it, yet the mail (i know) feels this is worthy of news

Apologies, missed that bit in your post.

Can offer Pol Pot, Rwanda and DRC as equally low as well as the Iranian regime itself on its own people. Putting it in context the last month conflict has only perhaps killed a few thousand - Pol Pot victims ran into the millions, Rwanda almost a million, DRC six million. Let's not get too carried away, there's more than a few evil people around.

But with the greatest of respect to all those who died, those leaders/conflicts you mention were hardly on a par with the POTUS or - in Middle East/World Economy terms - the impact an extremist Israeli government is having on disrupting the whole of the oil dependent world economy.

                            • ...and in a curious reversal of roles you prioritise economic trade over human lives. That's normally my stance.

Karen Errington, the chef-owner of the Rat Inn in the hamlet of Anick, near the Northumbrian town of Hexham, didn't name the allegedly parsimonious politician.

Lol…point well made, not sure any one charging 13.95 for a chicken liver pate starter deserves a tip…not a financial one anyway.

This whole tipping/donation business is a bit questionable anyway, imo. Last weekend I visited Chatsworth - just the farm/playground NOT the actual House. It cost 10.00 to park and 43.00 for two adults and two grandchildren to enter and the first thing I was asked was, ‘would I like to make a donation?’
I politely declined on the basis that by paying 53.00 to visit somewhere I had yet to set foot in I thought I’d probably ‘donated’ enough. Doubt I was the first to make that point as the lady seemed unsurprised.
