  • Weird that Tommy's name crops up in a post 2 minutes after I read online that Robbo has been having a jolly in a Moscow hotel with Elon Musk's Dad.

Does this mean that the Musks and Robbo are actually pro Russian? I mean, they wouldn't be likely to get in if they were anti Russia now would they?

Curiouser and curiouser. The man of many names has been reported as saying, ‘I’ve come to see how this country got itself on the straight and narrow and see the beauty of a civilised society here.’

Andrew Tate and his brother also reported as currently being in Russia.

These guys are grifters, pure and simple, will do and say whatever they are paid to. Do they believe what they say? I'd be surprised, as long as they get the money they don't give a toss.

        • A network of Russian far-right extremists steeped in neo-Nazi antisemitism – created under the umbrella of a sanctioned oligarch close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, and now openly promoted by Yaxley-Lennon is behind the ‘White Lives Matter’ propaganda over the murder of 18-year-old student Henry Nowak.

The organisation promoted by Yxley-Lennon is part of a wider Russian state-linked campaign to sow division across the UK and Europe. The material it amplified came from the “Paladins International Sovereigntist League”, a Russian-sponsored alliance of extreme-right organisations from a dozen countries, launched last September in a regional parliament building by the same Kremlin-linked oligarch.

On Tuesday night, as riots spread through Belfast hours after his call for nationwide street protests, the far-right agitator, promoted the movement by name to his 1.9 million followers on X, sharing its torchlit ‘Remember Henry Nowak’ ceremony with the words: “Russian nationalists @Academists1721 paying their respects to Henry Nowak and sending a message of United patriotism 🇬🇧 🤝 🇷🇺”.

We are in dangerous terrotory, especially as it seems there is a significant minority who seem to approve of this for reasons known only to themselves.

          • Polling for the upcoming By-election puts labour on 45% with Reform on 40 and Restore on 8%

Of course the results could differ but it potentially looks like the far right are going to split the vote and hand it to Burnham.

Not much left for the Greens, the Tories, the Lib Dems and Count Binface then.

I was listening to a rare bit of talk radio on a trip up North this afto (due to Planet Rock no reception) and one of the commentators made what I think is a very good point - if ‘the left’ and mainstream media continue to call anyone to the left of them ‘far right’ it will cease to have any meaning - there will be no way of elocuting the difference between the grumpy old granny and the baton wielding full face mask yobbo intent on violence

                • I've never known "the left and mainstream media (continue to) call anyone to the left of them far right"

If you mean call anyone to the right of them 'far right' then I'd agree. "Far right" no longer means anything to me. My son who voted labour under Corbyn is now far right by it's contemporary definition. As an expression it's just become a throwaway insult at best or a purely lazy assessment of someone else's viewpoint.

Okay, so it ‘no longer means anything’ to you but you simultaneously speak of a a ‘contemporary definition’ and a ‘throwaway insult’.

Confusing…and I, unsurprisingly, disagree, but to help the two of you, here’s a quick suggestion. ‘Far right’ describes those who subscribe to a doctrine of extreme nationalism, including a belief in national, racial and or religious supremacy, display a xenophobic dislike and intolerance of foreigners and strong opposition to immigration and multiculturalism along with a longing to return to an idealised past especially the racist and s*xist values which would once have been deemed acceptable.

You both, I feel sure, have seen exactly who I mean, those who take to the streets of Southport, Southampton, Belfast, Washington DC etc to cause untold damage, chaos, fear and mayhem, urged on by the more articulate but equally sinister likes of Farage, Lowe, Musk and Trump etc.

Hope that helps you both stop pontificating and decide where you stand.

                      • Thanks rA. So, I'm far right then except I don't take to the streets. Good to know my compartment.

Nice try but that’s just one definition, and it’s conditioned by your need to contradict an opinion you don’t like. Not sure about GP but I’m not talking about definition, I’m talking about the careless overuse of the term to describe anyone not declaring overtly ‘lefty’ characteristics.

Okay…so you began this by saying the term ‘far right’ has become meaningless. I provide a definition - yes obviously it’s a personal one - and you say you’re not talking about a definition and I’m just ‘conditioned by my need to contradict an opinion I don’t like’.
I honestly can’t keep up with the nonsense you utter these days, still at least you know what I, at least, mean by ‘far right’ and what I oppose now. What you stand for - if anything - must, it seems, again remain a mystery.
