The series was gripping, even though it is sub titles

I would also recommend "letters from Iwo Jima" , told from the Japanese perspective . Clint Eastwood award winning epic

Talking of sub titled films, watched Under Paris, really enjoyed it if not a bit silly.

I do love a good Jaws type movie though, even watched a couple of the sharknado movies although gave up a few minutes into the third.

Must dig out my copy of Piranha 3D, I seem to remember enjoying that 🤓

I saw the Paris one. Yes it was a bit silly, but it was watchable

The first Sharknado was funny but then they just couldn't stop making more and more identikit copies of the same film but switching the venue.

Then I recently saw "Attack of the two headed shark" which was pretty puerile. There seem millions of such films around now - funny for the first few minutes then revert to par stereotypes

The vast majority of sequels, and prequels for that matter, tend to be naff.

The Empire Strikes Back a notable exception.

My Star Wars experience is pretty pure, I saw the original on its Derby premiere (at the old ABC) and have never seen more than the odd accidental minute of any subsequent sequel/prequel. I did think it was excellent btw

Oh I have watched the Bricktop voiceovers on YouTube, amusing once

Also the Wrath of Khan a much superior sequel to the original.

Jaws 2 a decent follow up to Jaws, less said about 3 and 4 the better.

The 1st 2 Indiana Jones follow ups were excellent too, the last 2 not so much.

Batman Returns was an excellent sequel too.

Karate Kid 2 was decent too. Cobra Kai is good fun if you liked the original Karate Kid

The recent Beverly Hills Cop is a good watch after the horrible 3rd from the 90s.

If you ever want curing of Sequels, check out Blues Brothers 2000, utter cashing-in rubbish

I did see it, recall it just being a rehash of the excellent first movie

Now let's consider the Fast & The Furious franchise...or maybe not.

James Bond sequels anyone? Of the 26 following Dr No there must have been some that improved?

I've never watched the fast & furious films, they are on my to do list though

Bond yes, I never really think of them as sequels as they aren't really follow on movies (although the Daniel Craig ones do ).

My favourite bond film is licence to kill.
