  • England Internationals

Another international break. England vs Andorra this evening.

One would expect a healthy win for England.

Serbia Tuesday may be a little more tricky.

With the qualifying groups we've had in recent times they feel to me almost like glorified friendlies.

Used to really enjoy the qualifiers, when we were up against top teams and there felt like there was more at stake.

Find it hard to be motivated by them when qualification is pretty much guaranteed.

It's competitive football, on paper. Basically, it will be Andorra playing a 191 formation with the sole intention of not getting absolutely hammered. Get a quick goal and we can rack up a GD boosting win. Failing that it will be a painful 90 odd minutes seeing us creep through 2-0.

... and, yes, I will be watching.

Funny thing international football, and for that matter each person's interest in it and other sports events -I have no interest at all, won't be watching and honestly couldn't name a single England player

However, there's worse: There was a fellah on Pointless last week who was asked to name any country that has appeared at more than one World Cup Finals, and his response was Charlton Athletic

Swap the fag for a decent beer and I'm up for that.

Why didn't I put a bet on that?

Watched the first even game between the Dutch and Lithuania last night. The 2 Dutch pundits forecast 4-0 and 5-0. Dutch started well having >80% possession. Went ahead on 11 minutes, 2 up on 33. Looked like a monster score incoming. 36th and 43rd minutes saw the score hit 2-2. The cloggies well and truly shocked. Play ebbed and flowed 2nd half and the Dutch got the winner in the 63rd minute. Slightly better game to watch than England but not that much better.

Depay got the first and third goals. his first was his 51st for Holland and he's now the top scoring Dutch player in internationals of all time.

Didn't watch last night but apparently the best performance yet.

Here's a post I made as a reply to an FB post asking for a better performance..

More movement off the ball, higher ball circulation tempo, dribble past opponents, be creative with passes
I know the team won't have read it but it's exactly what they did.

To any interested club, I am available to coach.
