I suspect GP has given up and rA seems to be 'pissed off' with the crap we've suffered since he introduction of Cloudfart!Originally posted by swaledale View PostLast 2 or 3 days been almost impossible to log onto, becoming a farce. Will it last until the end of the season?
You'd think the powers that be would want to sort but it seems not.

All a bit odd. Tbh my access has been much improved today, having been virtually unusable for the last couple of days.Originally posted by macstheman View PostI suspect GP has given up and rA seems to be 'pissed off' with the crap we've suffered since he introduction of Cloudfart!

GP will doubtless be back, but yes, you’re right, I have been ‘pissed off’ with many aspects of the forum of late. Pity really, because while the country/world/forum all seem to be heading to hell in a handcart, I’m probably more optimistic about DCFC’s direction of travel than has been the case for many years.

Yes, one only has to think back a few years to remind ourselves of the huge mess we were in. To look how Mr Clowes has re*****ised the club, how we escaped a near relegation disaster last year to be sitting just below the top six with a squad developing that looks really promising giving even greater hope for the future is really quite remarkable.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostAll a bit odd. Puts the crap turned out by Cloudfart in perspective!

Its tempting to think now is worse than before, but even a glimpse of history shows that generally the world and the country have been worse, the only thing thats changed is that everything that happens is more visible now, reported instantly and beamed direct to people's devices. Oh and China is now a significant economic and military power.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostAll a bit odd. There has been more than one venal and corrupt American president spouting lies and trying to usurp the constitution.
For all the BS about the Country being broken, its been worse much worse and I've so far managed to walk around many of the less than salbrious parts of London without being mugged or knifed or indeed feeling even slightly threatened even late at night. My Wife got robbed of her phone in paris, but hey London's worse apparently!
As for the Forum, well if one likes to pop and make a pointless and unfunny post when the notion strikes, its a pain, if one wants to promogulate far right propaganda, its a pain. But atm its useable, though for how long is the question. Anyway Spring is on its way!

Spring can’t come quickly enough for me, Swale, but thanks for the reminder.Originally posted by swaledale View PostIts tempting to think now is worse than before, but even a glimpse of history shows that generally the world and the country have been worse, the only thing thats changed is that everything that happens is more visible now, reported instantly and beamed direct to people's devices. Take your point completely about the bombardment of instantaneous ‘news’ responses these days and although I’m a country dweller by choice it’s a while since I was threatened/attacked on any city streeets (Derby 1972) and I’m not one to feel that London, Birmingham or Manchester are any more or less safe than they’ve always been.
‘The world and the country have been worse’, though? I’m not so sure. Yes we’ve had some dreadful Presidents in our life time. Nixon was as corrupt as they come and Bush as incompetent, but in terms of a deranged and cruel individual holding the highest office in the World, and certainly the West, Trump has, imo, never been beaten.
Likewise, I remember the fascist sign appearing on the streets of Manchester during my childhood years and was all too aware of the NF and other racist organisations in the UK from the early seventies onwards. I can’t however remember a period in my lifetime (b.1954) when far right views were afforded such ‘respectability’ and the Union Jack/St.George’s flag seen as quite such a sinister and negative symbol of misplaced patriotism.Last edited by ramAnag; 04-02-2026, 09:31 AM.

Trump is certainly out there as an extreme example, but the US has invaded countries, meddled with and deposed the leaders of a number of South American countries, Panama, Cuba, El Slavador and others. Its just that none of these activities were broadcast on social media, to me thats the difference, the US has always been an ally to be wary of.Originally posted by ramAnag View PostSpring canÂ’t come quickly enough for me, Swale, but thanks for the reminder.

I think its the same with the far right and facist, racist organisations, social media has given them an outlet for the promotion and publicising of their ideas, which wasn't available before. There has always been a sizeable population that has either tacitly or openly agreed with these views and I think its just that the internet enables them to say stuff they wouldn't in face to face conversation.
As for the flags, well I don't find them offensive or worrying, the day I get triggered by a flag is the day I'll get triggered by acertain poster on here!! Not going to happen!
I note that round my way they are getting tattered and disappearing bit by bit. Its a touch ironic that these idiots will buy cheap tat from China and in doing so enrich the real elite who are exploiting them!!

That's pretty much how I see it. To throw an anecdote, I'll be visiting Colombia this year for our holiday, and can't wait. 20 years ago I'd have never dreamt of visiting, it was so dangerous. Equally, I will happily visit areas of London and be just as safe as I would any other UK city, with no fear of being stabbed as social media makes out.Originally posted by swaledale View PostTrump is certainly out there as an extreme example, but the US has invaded countries, meddled with and deposed the leaders of a number of South American countries, Panama, Cuba, El Slavador and others.
