  • Been in Feurtuventura

    For a couple of weeks

Something I noticed here that I don't see in Dundee.

    Mixing.

A few times now....half a dozen or so at least......was obvious Muslim women ( burka and hijab) and locals chatting over the the garden fence or blethering at children's play parks.....it's really noticeable.

Had a look up Muslim population here....it's around 2%

I don't think I've ever seen a Dundee wummin blethering away to an obviously Muslim woman.....always strikes me as never the twain.

Not an observation which will change my view on Islam in the UK but strikingly different feel to integration.

Plenty Muslim women at my work, and men, they mix perfectly normally.

There are Muslims that want to mix and Muslims that don't then there are the ones that want to cause nothing but trouble. As with most groups you never hear of the ones that want to mix or the ones that keep themseves to themselves only the noisy ones that believe they speak for all of them.

      Employment an entirely different matter.

Plenty Muslims at my work but I had nothing to do with them really bar yes/no

.....everything seemed to turn into a grievance especially in civil service.....with a lot of them.....not all.....so I chose not to interact.

In the bank it was homo***uals who seemed to be permanently aggrieved rather than anyone else.

Watched the news this morning and they were discussing some new facial recognition technology that the police want to use more often - used the example of catching some total Catweazle type weirdo on a restriction where he shouldn't be near kids walking along the road with a six year old girl in tow so it does work. Anyway woman gets interviewed and says that the technology isn't reliable enough to recognise women, trans people and of course people of colour and 'certain ethnic groups' - we know who she means of course.

The technology can pick out a ***** with a long filthy looking beard and hair that hasn't seen a comb in decades but don't try to use it to identify women, trannys, people who aren't my colour or Muslims though, they might complain that they're being picked on.

I don't do work whatsoever for other races particularly Pakis , I don't need their work and I don't need the hassle so I just don't touch them.

Plenty in building trade struggle to get final payment....from certain people...but then again many will now price so they don't really require final payment to make a decent profit.

I tend not to use Asian shops but will use trusted Indian restaurants....not carry outs....I've also used Chinese cash carry thingy in Gellaty St.....although don't think they are HK.

Don't use Turkish/Romanian car wash sometimes use barber if I want open blade shave of napper.

HK Chinese I will use goods services.

Poles no had any need to.

Restaurant in bank st good.....can't mind if Turkish or something else.

Indian Restaurants in Dundee seem to be getting better, although the Gunga Din on Perth Road was outstanding, and still seems to me to have been the best.

The tayview has to up there food quality wise , the decor lets it down , new carpets a couple of years ago , the wallpaper is horrible and at least 30 years old , tables and chairs could also do with an upgrade, also I was in last week and our hands were freezing and had to keep my coat , which is a pity as the food was amazing
