  • Thoughts of a part time supporter

The top 5 Clubs in Scotland are now streets ahead of The Rest in terms of financial clout, quality of player pool, fan base and what the match day experience brings those attending games.
They have turned almost every away game into a home fixture and pretty much left the rest of the clubs behind, the gulf has never been bigger.
Dundee are in my view getting further behind some of The Rest on a few fronts the reasons for that are varied and complex. The most obvious factor for me is the continued failure of the Club to have something for the supporters to shout about on the park. That has taken its toll, the supporters are weary, no other club of a comparable size in Scotland has gone so long without having any success.
Whilst other Clubs look at ways and means of helping themselves make the best of things Dundees approach appears to be unique. They have gone for the one size fits all silver bullet solution where the current owners are promising a brand new state of the art stadium at a cost the Football Club can afford. The all eggs in one basket plan is not going well, repeated set backs with little no progress made in around eight years or so.
Trying to keep this as short and to the point as I can ……there are lots of other commendable things going on at some of the other small clubs in Scotland, the supporters groups appear to be more active, communication is better, fans feel a closer affiliation to club and there are various stand alone initiatives that make the ordinary punter feel part of something they can associate with and feel proud of.
It is not too late to have a rethink in my view, continue on the path they are on and ther is a danger irreparable damage is being done.
Who and more importantly when is someone anywhere close to having any influence going to say so ?

    Good post

There's a scene in the film "the day after tomorrow" where the guy from the Antarctic monitoring station is on the blower to the scientist trying to save the world

Scientist tells Antarctic man " save yourself"

Antarctic man opens a bottle of whisky and says " that time has come and gone my friend "

I am increasingly believing DFC time has " come and gone"....tipping point has been breached.

    Anyway...

    Sunshine 😎

If I?d covered all the costs for 10 or so years I wouldn?t pander to fans either. Put yourself in their position and tell me you would.

          Oh FFS

Here's a clue - none of them have 'United' as part of their name. Can you work it out now?

Seeing that you were clearly struggling to understand what appears to normal people to be a very simple concept I answered on behalf of the group.

You know what to do if you're not happy with that don't you? Two words, second one's off?

                      Note sent to D4L BOD

I used live and breathe Dundee FC, stayed away for a couple of seasons though kept up my D4L, Dee Promotions and Supporters Club subs.

Returned to Dens albeit on a part time basis this season in an attempt to try and rekindle my interest, hoping to renew my season ticket next season. Having done so I started to engage occasionally in online chat with fellow Dark Blues via Facebook, MAD and TDBF.

I’ve formed a view that I’m wasting my time doing so, like many others the state of the Club, Team and various other associated bodies really does sadden me. I took some heart from what I heard from the recent D4L AGM however since then the subsequent silence has somewhat disappointed though not surprised me.

Having engaged with several like minded people over the last few months I have no doubt that there are people out there who would be willing to offer and provide fans groups with support if the effort was made to identify, encourage and contact them.

I do look forward to hearing more from both D4L and the DSA in the months ahead but for now I’m going to return to ‘read only’ mode.

Wishing all of you all the very best for the festive season.

Of what possible value is that note? Do you think the Dee4Life board will care?

I think things are turning the enlightened folks way.....too slowly for me but moving.

The new stadium hangs over supporters heads like the sword of Domiciles, freezes those who have some power to move the dial.

Motherwell st m and Falkirk don't play in super duper stadiums but somehow seem to manage.

Put a hundred dees in a room you wouldn't get two agreeing on the way forward BUT more and more are seeing it's not the Nelms way.....

Keyes could have been covering a lot less costs if he had instructed his representative in Dundee Football Club and managing director director John Nelms to communicate with all Dundee FC supporters and not a very select group of supporters providing they do not ask awkward questions.

Last night I sent an email to the secretary of Dee4life asking when the full minutes of the AGM and particularly the Q and A section of the meeting held on Saturday 29th November 2025.
I am very concerned that a truncated version of the minutes of the Q and A section of the AGM will be published.
