Ramblings of a part time supporter part two.
Made it along for my sixth visit of the season yesterday and was quite impressed - the previous games I have been to were pretty much over by half time. Yesterday they really did make a game of it and were only denied a point by way of a world class save by Craig Gordon against a team who are top of the league, so a huge well done to the players, back room staff and manager, they gave their all, played as a team and looked well organised.
The goalkeeper has been doing what is asked of him, his kicking has improved, the centre half partnership is looking good, Luke Graham looks extremely calm and composed for his years, Ethan Hamilton is a machine and I like teams that play with two wingers. Full marks to Elvis for roughing it out and for the last four results which brought nine from twelve points, hoping the good form of late continues.
This morning whilst out I caught up with Up Wi the Bonnets Podcast as I was very interested to hear what SLO Billy Douglas had to say. What good hour that was - full marks to Young Billy, came over very well, what a great start for him (and Kris the other SLO) again if they can keep it up the club will benefit. Thanks to Danny the lad doing the interview again top notch and to Martin Tosh for sponsoring the podcast - excellent.
The interview referred to our much maligned Managing Director and the Dundee BODs promises made to the fan base in terms of improved communication and engagement. Much to do there, though will admit to being impressed by the recent initiative to sponsor/pay for buses going to Saturdays Scottish Cup tie, an excellent opportunity for supporters clubs that should be welcomed and appreciated. Will be interesting to see how many buses end up going given the subsidy, there was a day Club Notes in the Tully would have had a very long list of bus leaving times for a 4th round Scottish Cup tie. Whatever it is the recently referred to 10-13% year on year growth is certainly not a reference to the headcount in the Bobby Cox and there is without doubt potential for growth when it comes to the size of the core support.
Overall - impressed and encouraged, good luck Saturday, they should be heading to Ayrshire fully expecting to beat Kilmarnock, would not have said that a month ago.
