  • Derby At The Dump This Weekend.

Anyway having 'moaned' about the lack of a Derby thread here we go. Am I ever confident about derbies nope, never have been, but I'm strangely confident about this one? Don't know if that is a good thing. We have the wingers and forward play to hurt them but need to stop any brainfarts at the back. Score first and we can get their 15,000 (at least) home fans on their backs. Looks like a decent away support of well over 3,000 ( 5/6,000 under Dabbie counting ) heading to the dump. I don't have to encourage them to get well behind the team, that will happen anyway, let's outshout and outsing the manky mob again. Wonder if they will have one of their odd flag displays or misspelt Tifos to amuse us this time?

Their 2 best players won?t play for them again this season.

    They scored in last derby.

Disgrace of a pitch will be a leveller.

Surely the pitch will have improved a bit by now and weather has been decent recently and set fair for the weekend. Hopefully we won't need any excuses.

State of pars pitch last night, 3 very dodgey divot bounces.

I have never set foot in Tanadump since March 1972 when I attended a Forfarshire Cup final which we won 2-0.
Back in the 1960’s we used to be favourites in derby matches against the DABS but without fail we used to lose these matches.
Hopefully times have changed and we will win on Sunday which will help take the pressure off us running the risk of finishing in the playoff position at the end of this season.
We are mathematically safe from finishing in the automatic relegation position at the end of this season.

The pars pitch looked fine from a distance. It was only when the TV cameras got close to the pitch that you saw it poor condition.
The grass is now growing so it should help improve the playing surface for this Sunday?s game.
The much shorter close season does not help the state of the pitches with the SPFL Premier League season finishing in the middle of May (assuming a club does not have a playoff match) and restarts early in July with the League Cup.
When it was an 18 team first division the league season used to finish on the last Saturday in April and restart with pre season friendlies towards the end of July every year.

My DAB nephew reckons it's much better now than it was and is just about playable.

Matchday. Mon the Dee, get stuck into them today. Looking for a win, draw not disastrous but don't want to be walking away from the Dump today feeling we haven't given our best. High tempo from the start, keep pressing them and tight at the back will do for me.

I am in the knee breaker today. The least that I should be granted is a draw for this.

Everything went totally against my post this morning. That was just plain embarrassing all round. Embarrassing performance from us, embarrassing to lose 3-0 to a really poor United team on an embarrassment of a pitch (which I won't use as an excuse btw). We couldn't control the ball and then again neither could they, the difference was that their loose balls from their lack of control went to a United player and so did ours from our poor ball control. The flukey first goal and the VAR chalking off our equaliser, despite there being fouls from both teams, and the usual total numpty of a ref were contributing factors to our heavy loss but overall we were not up for the game enough and poor overall. Poor team selection, subs not on soon enough also didn't help.

Very poor team selection, actually an inexplicable team selection, ridiculous delay in making the changes that everybody could see were needed - 68 minutes before Murray came on - a team completely devoid of a f.u.c.k to give.

Pitch diabolical but both teams need to deal with that, they did but our powder puff midfield couldn't.

Dhanda managed to hit a United 'wall' consisting of one player in the first half, astonishing that he even tried to shoot. He should be dropped for the St. Mirren game because he just offers nothing - Fin not much better but at least you get a decent hit free kick or corner.

Referee poor, but then again aren't they always, and despite one very soft decision to disallow the goal he didn't contribute to us losing today.

This might be a controversial opinion on here but I think Pressley needs to go in the close season. If you can't put out a team to compete in a derby (three times this season) and can't see glaring problems during play you're simply not up to it.

No, does it matter? Can you only comment and make judgement if you were actually in the ground or can you make comment from seeing the game in much better clarity, from multiple angles and with replays on TV?

Were you there? If so were you happy with what you saw? What pub did you go to before and after the game? Can you say anything I've written above is wrong? You know, from the perspective of the fan in the ground.

Think we are yet again, relying on players whose allegiance is either to another club or keeping themselves healthy for a new club next season. No manager can cope with this combination of players.
Keep Elvis, bin the loans, and get players who know the ropes and are delighted to play for us. We have had some great servants who had good careers at top clubs and just loved playing.
