  • If Edinburgh hadn't had

A deduction of points, Dumbarton may well have been relegated to non league.

Champions of a country to non league.

Surely wuda been a first in UK unless some obscure Welsh club.

Wonder if it's been done in Europe.

Been some incredible falls from top tier but champs no sure

Only 5 clubs have ever won the Portuguese Premier League. The obvious 3, Benfica, Sporting and Porto. Of the other 2 Belenenses won in 1945/46 and were never relegated until the 1980s. They were relatively successful even until fairly recently with top 5 top league finishes but fell out of the League system altogether into the 3rd tier of the local Lisbon leagues. They have recovered somewhat and are now in the third tier of the main league system. The other, Boavista, who won in 2000/01 were punted out of the League altogether a couple of seasons ago into the regional Oporto league system and have since basically ceased to exist.

Dumbarton were also deducted 5 points at the beginning of the 2025-26 season as a result of going into administration during the 2024-25 season when they were in League One.
If Edinburgh City and Dumbarton had not received these points deductions it would have been very tight at the bottom of League Two going into the final two games of this season.
