    • Now we will get down to the nitty gritty regarding the new stadium development at the former NCR Camperdown playing fields.
During the Q and A section of a Dee4life AGM held by zoom during Covid the subject of the new stadium development which at the time was costing twenty million pounds came up for discussion.
A Dee4life member at the AGM who had worked in this field stated that despite part of the site which was allocated for private housing being sold to a large house building firm for six million pounds there was not enough value in the remainder of the site.
If there was not enough value in the new stadium development site when it was costing twenty million pounds to build everything there will certainly not be enough value when the latest cost according to John Nelms is ninety five million pounds.
I have never heard nor can I find any financial companies or banks advertising mortgages lasting 100 years on commercial property on the Internet despite John Nelms stating that there will be a 100 years mortgage on the site of the new stadium development.
Shortly before the second pre application meeting in the Landmark Hotel, Dundee at the end of September 2022 John Nelms stated in the media that his new stadium development was almost fully funded and if any borrowings were required the financial companies in the City of London could easily provide these funds.
Two months later the Dark Blue Property Holdings Limited directors borrowed funds secured against their new stadium development site at the former NCR Camperdown playing fields from the Isle of Man based financial company Soho Green at an annual interest rate of between 9% and 24%.
In my opinion John Nelms on behalf of Dark Blue Property Holdings Limited needs to start explaining how the new stadium development at the former NCR Camperdown playing fields is going to be financed bearing in mind that when it was was costing ?20 million there was not enough value in the site. John Nelms also needs to explain in full what exactly Dundee Football Club will be receiving from the profits from sales in the restaurants and bars in the new stadium. Will Dundee Football Club be receiving all the profits which happens in Dens Park, a percentage of the profits or none of the profits which will be used to repay the loans to pay for the cost of building the new stadium.
Dundee Football Club could be in a worse position financially than at present with them still having to pay an annual rental plus being responsible for all repairs and improvements to the new stadium which happens at present under the terms of their lease with Sandeman Properties Limited.
Dundee supporters should remove their rose tinted spectacles and prepare for a worst case scenario if the new stadium development in the former NCR Camperdown playing fields is never built.
At least 10 years ago a rainy day fund should have been set up by Dundee FC supporters just in case Tim Keyes stopped financing Dundee Football Club Limited.

FPS stated that they would buy back Dens Park for the Dundee FC supporters who could repay them over a period of time.
I was not at the meeting but it was well documented at the time.
I have since spoken to a number of Dee4life members who like myself bitterly regret voting in favour of FPS acquiring a majority shareholding in Dundee Football Club Limited because FPS have not carried out what they said they would do.
The minutes of Dee4life AGM held on 6th December 2014 are very interesting as included in the minutes is a section which states that a business plan for the purchase of Dens Park from Sandeman Properties Limited was being presented to the Dundee Football Club Limited board of directors in January 2015.
Bill Colvin was the Chairman of Dundee Football Club Limited and a partner of FPS at that time.

There is no way that Dundee United will get involved as Mark Ogren when he purchased majority ownership of the Dundee United Football Company Limited spent four million, eight hundred thousand pound redeeming all the Standard securities held over Tannadice Park and surrounding areas of Tannadice Park as a result of MMJ selling them to wealthy supporters. Mark Ogren would never be able to reclaim this outlay if he tried to sell Tannadice Park which would probably have social housing built on the site.

Thank you for your information Islay. Do you honestly think that buying back Dens and then the supporters paying FPS back is /was the better option?

Actually, John Nelms doesn't have to explain anything to me, you or any other Dundee fan. He never has and he never will.

Some of us suspect a car crash just around the next bend however most Dundee fans seem to still have total trust in John Nelms. I have no idea why so many trust him but they do. Let's hope he knows what he's doing because hope is, I believe, all we have.

John nelms " dosent have to explain " is exactly why there has never been a connection between the yanks and the main body of the Kirk.

Unfortunately I think he's cost us plenty of regular fans over the last decade.....

Buying back Dens Park was the best option and Bill Colvin was in favour of it.
Sadly when Bill Colvin resigned as Chairman of Dundee Football Club Limited and a partner in FPS the opportunity for the Dundee FC supporters to purchase Dens Park ended.
I know for a fact that a Dundee FC supporter spent a year of his life preparing a business case for the buying back of Dens Park. When this person arrived to make a presentation to John Nelms he (Nelms) did not want to know.
I also heard that John Nelms asked the Dundee FC supporter to leave his business plan with him but the Dundee FC supporter refused to leave it.

Like you I fail to understand why so many Dundee fans still have total trust in John Nelms.
Sadly they will be the first to complain if their dreams of a new stadium turn to dust.

Yup without a doubt...not just his lack of communication, out of touch pricing ie season tickets and PATG when it was an option and his total disregard for the ordinary Dee fan over the years, whom many forked out for hospo club events, etc etc.

Another one that got to me was letting his stadium manager treat home fans like she ite and let away fans away with all sorts of shenanigans over his term in charge.

John Nelms has managed to split two groups of Dundee supporters by adopting his divide and rule tactics.
Nelms will only speak to people who do his bidding and he will not speak to the Dee4life board of directors as they are prepared to asking searching questions on behalf of their members and the wider Dundee FC supporters.

                          • Dee4life held a members only online meeting on Monday 18th March 2024.
During the meeting the subject of the new stadium planning application was discussed.
A Dee4life member who had experience of submitting planning applications in the building trade stated that the Dark Blue Property Holdings Limited Planning Permission in Principle application for their new stadium development at the former NCR Camperdown playing fields would not likely be heard by the Dundee City Council (DCC) planning committee until December 2024.
The August 2024 date was only an indicative date for the DCC planning committee to discuss.
John Nelms should have been told this by his lead group of architects but as usual the Dundee supporters were told nothing by Nelms.

I think most who still go to Dens do so inspite of John Nelms or at best are non plussed by him.....I don't think he has many enthusiastic supporters among our support......you have to ask the question why is it?

It always strikes me that they run the club for their plans or ambitions.....if that happens to coincide with the fans all good but if it dosent ...so be it.

This is a guy who employs a stadium manager who generally dislikes our support and has at best badly concealed contempt for those that don't sit in the posh seats.

I kinda get the feeling if the stadium comes off the club and in particular the fans will be looked upon as tennants and be treated as tennants.

I also get frustrated that many outside commentators and fans who don't go or rarely go continually harp on aboot it being a game changer......game changer for what I'm not sure......they never seem to specify.

To build a club you have to build a connection, you have to make supporters feel part of the club, wanted, welcome, the reason for their being a club..........some of the best at doing that over the years......( And they all had faults ), Marr, leishman, fleeting, fitz****face, Mercer, Ferguson, Lambie, the Deefiant group..and plenty others.....Nelms no so much.

I still go every fortnight and half a dozen away games a season but it's like I'm looking on rather than in amongst it these days.

I agree with everything you say.
I can also add that the stadium manager kicked the visibly impaired Dundee supporters out of the area they had stood in for a number of years at the start of the 2022-23 season citing that the area below the Main Stand was a Red Covid zone. However a couple weeks later it was OK for the BBC Scotland pundits to stand in same area in the Red Covid zone when a Dundee v Arbroath game was being televised live on the BBC Scotland channel.
In my opinion Jim Thomson needs to explain why the area below the Main Stand was a Red Covid zone for the visually impaired Dundee FC supporters but not for the BBC Scotland pundits.
I have heard that Jim Thomson is back as the General manager of Dundee Football Club. Is this correct or not.
