Never really understood what was going on at the end. Sitting on the bench, why?

Mostly about cancelling days off apparently.

Would you have gave him 3 year deal making him one of if not highest paid?

Despite what I think of Nelmsy.....I really don't think I wud have.

The amount of goals conceded not allowed to do with defence also those in front.....big part of his job defending well....was it easier to look good in that role when the midfield consisted of Cameron, Robertson mulligan and tiffoney.......I think we will miss him ...but not excessively so

No, would not have given him a 3 year deal. Seems to me there used be much more of a bonus system for wins. Now the main money making opportunity for a player seems to turn on the terms at the beginning of a new contract. After that it feels like he has his lifestyle and it doesn't matter what happens on the pitch. Squad rotation also seems to count against having to perform to win matches and turn losing situations in games into draws.
I am not close to anyone who might know how players think, so maybe my thoughts are not relevant.

I'd imagine that football players think the same way most of us do?

Enough money to be comfortable now, financial security in the short to medium term whilst accumulating enough to be financial comfortable enough in the longer term. Major difference being that our careers (generally) last until we want to retire or don't want to do it any more but theirs last until they just can't do it any more.

Who's fault is that? Must be more to the way TD dealt with him, surely!

I?d say his agent is to blame for his wage deal

Sylla wasn't in a great bargaining position when he came to Dens.

Stopped playing for Hartlepool and I'd assume this dosent go unoticed in football circles.

And bear in mind he couldn't shift Boeteng out the team.

2 year deal with decent pay rise....yeah

3 year deal with substantial pay rise.....no for me.
