True and we are worse off. We spend more, it gets spread more into, let's say, contentious areas and we get less. We spend far more on Policing than in the past but huge amounts are wasted on woke nonsense, diversity and daft, supposed hate crimes. The Health Service spends vast sums more than in the past but folk are living longer and end of life care costs increase BUT they, imo, waste enormous sums on areas that they don't/shouldn't have to. E.G. drug addicts, both in supplying them and treating them, all self inflicted imo. Then there are cosmetic surgeries, *** changes and the bad back/I'm depressed brigade who should be told to bugger off. Teaching used to involved 50 or 60 pupils to a class with one teacher instead of half that number today with assistants in classes too. All at vast extra costs and if the standard of education was better now then arguably it would be to the good but it isn't and therefore huge sums wasted. National Government, both Westminster and our wee toy parliament in Edinburgh, Local Government, the Civil Service, all the useless Quangos etc. all eating up vast sums and totally wasteful in most regards; the country is broke and the lefties all want to tax and spend more. It's mental, pure crazy economics. And all that's without mentioning the immigration crisis. I don't think even Reform would have the guts to do what is required to set the country straight. Finally what does this corrupt, incompetent, totally useless, dangerous Labour Government propose? Give the votes to 16/17 year old; ffs that's really going to help!!

Passed tipping point, Reform can slightly slow the process of country going belly up.....but thank God I won't see the worst of it......

Think Quangos are the one major problem. They deliver SNP policies. That's the problem, there is no real oversight and civil service, ie Parliamentary control. The politicians think up their crackpot policy, sell it on to some bunch of loonies who, as long as they stick to the budget, they are on the gravy train. If the politicians had to monitor and run anything, it would stop them having the time to think up more laws that lawyers and judges love.

Politicians also think up their ill thought out policies and then get their senior civil servants work out how to decide the rules. .
Nicola Sturgeon and the Scottish Greens have a lot to answer for with their loony bills.
Last week I read a post on a topic about the shambles at Ferguson Marine Shipyard.
The poster stated that Jim McColl when he purchased the Ferguson Marine Shipyard out of administration in August 2014 put the land and buildings into a separate business.
When the Scottish Government Finance Minister the hapless Derek McKay decided to nationalise the Ferguson Marine shipyard they purchased a load of scrap metal.
The poster stated that the Scottish Government had to negotiate a price with Jim McColl for the land and buildings which was reckoned to be in the region of ?10 million.
If the above information is correct then Nicola Sturgeon and Derek McKay should be explaining why this extra outlay of ?10 million has been covered up.

I used to play golf with a friend who was on a quango to get the food manufacturers to have the same food instead their packet as was shown on the front of the packet.
After several meetings the food manufacturers admitted that this could not be done as they would have to show the same muck on the front of the packet as was inside and they would never sell any of their products.

We are not doomed, imo. We just need to remember that voting for the same people/political parties, all the time is the problem.
Think we are seeing some signs of independent thinking at Westminster with Left wing Labour politicians leaving their party because they know that their constituency does not support Starmer's policies.
See, voters can have an influence!
