great stuff, manager deserves great credit for putting that team together over summer, really enjoyed that, rode our luck at times, but also played some nice stuff, I really hope we can get some players back for second Leg as we are near running on empty for bodies.

The way it's going Sam will be needed in midfield soon.Originally posted by Arabs4ever View PostSapsford dummy early in the game was great. Dolcek getting the ball in but no player to tap it in. Great energy from Sapsford to get to the byline and pull it back. Pity that Rapid Vienna have done the same and found joy with our defence being all at sea. I'd be dropping Iovu for the next game and putting SCH in. Competition for places is exactly in play here and he needs taken out of the team for his own benefit as well.

What a results. As someone mentioned. 80s desk. Well done JG! 🖤🧡
Watters and Sapsford did brilliantly up front. Pass marks to all.
Didn?t get bullied. If anything we bullied them at times. Loved watters getting hold of the lad. Real fight in the team.
Issue now is managing the ever increasing injury list. Had we had the full squad available rotation wld be key to manage these game.

Very true, sir. Nail on head.Originally posted by Handsup View PostA team was born tonight!
All any fan can ask of their club?s players is that they give their all. And everyone in the team did that last night ? got into the tackles when possible, fought for each other, went down to make blocks, got up to meet headers, ran until their lungs must have been bursting. Proud to have these men in tangerine shirts.

Yes a real test for JG to navigate Hearts, Rapid and big cup game at Killie on plastic all in 8 days with the injuries
Nightmare luck to be 6-7 bodies light this early in season
Ferry suspended for Hearts so he'll be fresh atleast
Some going to get a draw of if that, Thurs will be just as tough, love Sapsford and his attitude and demeanor, some boy

Superb result and performance. Didn't get to watch the game live as I was working so recorded it and enjoyed it this morning instead. Sapsford could very well become my favourite player, love how hard he works and he's actually decent on the ball too. Two goals and two assists from 4 games is good going by anyone's standards. It's great that he and Watters are scoring early into their United careers and bodes well for the season. Dolcek is going to be a good player for us too. Defence is gelling nicely and Sibbald was also immense last night. Biggest downer was the injury to Pappoe, looks a bad one too. It's absolutely ridiculous our luck on the injury front right now and it's even more credit to the whole team and coaching staff to get a result like that. Can't f*cking wait for the return leg
I f*cking love Dundee United! 🧡🖤🧡🖤🧡

Was on holiday this week, but thankfully still in Scotland and a tele to watch.
Nearly just switched it off after Pappoes injury and their goal, but then a bit of magic along the byline and we were never really out of the game again!
There is no sugar coating it for me, but Rapids goals were absolutely shocking goals to loose, and is something that is gonna be repeated this season. I have a decent opinion of our 3 central defenders, but that is outside the 18 yard box, but is gonna take a bit of time to get them into a unit that can deal with last nights goals better.
While Sapsford and Watters quite rightly get the plaudits for their performance, i am slowly falling in love with Camara. The amount of ground he covers in every game is absolutely phenomenal. Sibbald has played 2 of the best games ive seen from him in a United shirt.
However, barring a great goal at the weekend and sublime lob into the path of the defender near Sapsford, that is all ive seen from Dolcek so far, but he is one of the newest signings.
We do need some of the squad back in place for the home leg though as Bert looked done near the end, and Camara was running on an empty level that was still above most others on the pitch!

Never did i think that the modern day United could produce an away performance in europe replicating the heroes of the 80's but this new side did the city proud last night with a wonderful away performance and they will rightly go down in history. Its worth remembering that Rapid reached the 1/4 final of this competition last season.
The United support last night truly magnificent in a hostile atmosphere and although i have not seen the game back on the TV i would imagine they were heard on the BBC coverage.Plenty of people would have tuned in last night expecting an Alkmaar but instead witnessed a Man U away.Proud as phuck to be an Arab.Last edited by GUNBOAT; 08-08-2025, 06:51 PM.
