I haven't seen lovu exposed too much in that role for pace, but maybe he hasn't been exposed to pace like maeda, as he doesn't seem to me as fast, so maybe lovu picked a good game to miss, but easeliink looked totally unsuited. Svjel better suited, whereas if he was up against a big physical player he'd be less suited. Another overlook for Sam Harding, but again, would be bit unfair to not play him one minute and then chuck him into that.

So that?s us played the top three in the league recently and bagged 5 points. Could have/should have been more - moments away from beating the the Rangers and the Hearts game was there to be won. Now if only we could get more of that against the teams further down the table - Falkirk, St Mirren, etc?

Great as last night was (and indeed it WAS!), there?s still a really strong sense of frustration as to how this season has panned out. We could, and maybe should, be sitting much higher up, possibly even third. This team has shown that in its day it can not just compete, but outplay the best in the league. To be sitting 8th after playing a total of 7 games against Hearts, Hibs, Celtic, Aberdeen and The Rangers with only one narrow defeat from all of them, doesn?t make any sense. Stupid, stupid defensive errors have absolutely killed us. However, the last two home games have been navigated without any defensive phuck ups so hopefully the tide is turning. Even yet, if we can continue to re-solidify at the back, we can still make top 6 and maybe even challenge for a Euro spot. Onwards and upwards.

I would say competition for places is crucial. If your performances drop off and you are still getting a game that is piss poor management. For me Sevelj has been stinking in midfield. On the right hand side of a back three you get a reaction for being dropped and he has nailed that position as his now imo. Get that in all positions and if players needed dropped, drop them. Collectively you will get better team performances. Richards should have been in long before he was imo.

Great result, and about time we managed to get some luck going for us, mr Beaton was again inconsistent.

Richards played very well and didnt need to punch at all. Esselink was pretty woeful in so many ways and playing him Strain on the same side meant they fed off each other and were both poor, the pull at HT rectified that.

I get a feeling the players at half time decided to throw caution to the wind and just go for it.

The level of intensity they showed is very meritable and appreciated by the support.

Lets hope the same level can be used on saturday.

            Bravo to the team.

Interesting on the Twa teams podcast Alan Temple saying JG had an analyst in the dressing room at H/T analysing clips of the first half and pointing out issues and what need to do differently. it certainly worked.

......and most definitely how he ejected Essilink.

It was strange to put Sevelj in at Essilink's position but it worked brilliantly. The obviously thing to do was to put Stephenson back in at RB and Sevelj in centre mid. I still think Stephenson is less effective at CM than he is on the right,he battles away and wins headers but not creative enough IMO, really missing Camara ,hes our creativity in there and we struggle without him.

that's my feeling. I've been moaning about the defence, how Sam isn't getting his chance. I completely forgot the Sevelj was bought as a defender. I'd give him the chance again. Much more mobile, quicker and likes to get stuck in.

Ye i agree. Still don't like Stevenson in the middle of the park though so maybe play him in front of Sevelj. If Camara is going to be out long term then we need to invest in a central midfielder in January, we are so light in that area, especially if Papoe still isn't near a return.
