I think it's more important to win games than anything else, and if your system isn't working and your players aren't able to adapt to it then it's a managers job to do something about it, and he hasn't. If players aren't performing to their full ability, again it's down to the manager to sort out. He's failing on both counts and showing no willingness to adapt himself. We can't just keep blaming it on the rebuild, we are into March ffs.

The above is exactly right. If you keep using the same system and getting the same result you don't have to be Albert Einstein to work out what needs changed. While resting players against Motherwell I hope we don't end up with our first choice team back again and end up with another defeat.Originally posted by Arabdownsouth View PostI think it's more important to win games than anything else, and if your system isn't working and your players aren't able to adapt to it then it's a managers job to do something about it, and he hasn't. What I'm saying is that the rebuild created a huge amount of risk for us as we previously had a team of players we could rely on. With 14 new players in the door we don't have a clue until later in the season. Unfortunately this is how it's panned out but I'm actually pretty confident the manager can take this base line and improve on it for next season. If he doesn't, he'll be out.Originally posted by Arabdownsouth View PostI think it's more important to win games than anything else, and if your system isn't working and your players aren't able to adapt to it then it's a managers job to do something about it, and he hasn't. And what I'm saying is, he's had long enough to get some kind of tune out of this lot but failed. He's had long enough to see his system isn't working but refuses to change it, he's stubbornly sticking to a failing masterplan. I genuinely dont see what's going to change next season if he's not willing to.Originally posted by TerryTheTerror View PostWhat I'm saying is that the rebuild created a huge amount of risk for us as we previously had a team of players we could rely on. Agree good post. Meant to attach my post to this.Originally posted by LSArab View PostI want Goodwin to stay.
His record has been good overall.
Won the championship and finished 4th - overachieved
Second season back up is never easy and other teams have shown that
The recruitment was good. I agree with others that 3-4-3 hasn?t worked. But don?t see that as a reason to get rid of a decent, experienced manager
His man management is good and it is clear players are playing for him.
We have been unlucky this season with the late goals which have killed us a bit
I do think the experiment of a new team this season has shown that we need a bit more experienced pros to be consistent
Overall 2 good seasons and if we finish 7th or 8th with a cup run to semis or better I am happy
I do feel Goodwin is building with this squad and I?d like him to see him have some more years and to build something lasting at tannadice
The endless sacking of managers has served us very badly since the levein / PH era

Good post
Also talk of credit in the bank being over or whatever is a load of tosh AJ in my opinion
How can it be??
It makes no sense whatsoever, to gain promotion finish 4th then follow it with mid table which is likely is not running out of credit when we spent 5 of the previous 10 years doon and a shambles
What we badly needed is a few years with the same manager and build some real stability
Motherwell away didn't change that we as we were screwed by officials at 0-0 with them not having had a shot on target
Tonight doesn't change it either
Although 1 defeat in 6 now and again that was heavily influenced by VAR on Saturday
The signing of Agyei is looking good especially looking ahead to next season, getting Russell in on a short term after getting money for Moller is decent too

Maybe thats the answer, fill the defence full of Shedkas.Originally posted by shedka View PostGood post

If only our players defended our team as well as you, we would win everything.
Not so sure we could get Shedka on VAR though.
What am I thinking? You would hardly play due to the suspensions for talking back at refs.
Seriously, I dont mind you defending Utd to the hilt I have even stuck up for you at times but last time I looked, this is a forum.
All views are very subjective but you dismiss everyones that doesnt fit yours.
It seems you are also applying this logic to refs & VAR and that we should be higher up the league - sums you up.
To be clear I get that its a results business and I pay my money to support the team and to be entertained.
My gripes are with the latter, due to us being less shyte than others, this manager is getting away with serving a product that is horrendous.
If you went to a restaurant every 2 weeks and the service, the food and overall experience was crap, would you not blame the owner and manager? Would you go back? The owner would not give a monkeys about yesterday never mind the last 2 years, he would act and change managerial team inc the chef if this was how folk felt today.
Our owner though would keep them and just charge folk more.
I want us to win every game and do well in the cup but you watch the crowds dwindle dramatically if we go out the cup on Friday and then continue to serve up this brand of football.
Just like the crap restaurant, folk wont accept crap standards and will go elsewhere to spend their time and money.
Utd under Ogren are heading down a slippery slope.
Pardon the pun

Tbf Shedka has been defending for utd for about 20 years, through thick and thin, at times he's been like a one man defence! In fact, he must be overdue a testimonial!Originally posted by A. J View PostMaybe thats the answer, fill the defence full of Shedkas.

A bizarre analogy for me, this is football, you cannot compare it to anything else, I don't care about any restaurant like it's a family member or more that anything but family members
I'm no sure you could say we are heading down a slippery slope at the moment or why Ogren is anything to do with it just now unless you are in the know about something, for me looked like lessons have been learned in the way they are working compared to before
I'm not defending anything really other than what is best for the club right now is not to change manager as we really need the stability, we don't need to be taking unnecessary risks after the last decade, it's really pretty obvious, I don't mean to dismiss those who hate Goodwin and want him out but it's clear to me the club needs a period without managerial instability, that was pretty much a consensus a couple years ago and now because the season is disappointing people want rip it up and put us back into a situation where we could end up in a cycle of managerial instability again
This is only the second season back, it isn't that bad, it's a bit meh but sometimes we will get those years, if it means we grow and consolidate for the first time since the sale of the tim two then that's fine I can handle it and the ups and downs
Not because I think Goodwin is amazing but he's done enough to show he can get us back up there with time

The football has been dire since about September and it?s now apparent that the decision to go with a young team has not worked but that for me is not a good enough reason to empty the manager at this stage.
We have had our fair share of injuries during this period and the 7 games in 20 days and the pitch has not made it any easier.
I have and will continue to criticise JG when needed, epically regarding the 3 at the back, but I am not one for getting rid quickly. For me he has earned enough credit in the bank for the promotion and our efforts last season when we punched above our weight and got into Europe. The 2nd season in the top flight is notoriously difficult for most teams. No to mention we have assembled a young team on a shoe string, which clearly hasn?t worked and lessons will have to be learned from that. There is no doubt that JG, despite what he says, will be concentrating on survival and getting hopefully further in the cup.

Oh dead funny, arfOriginally posted by Arabdownsouth View PostHe's overdue his medication
You chop and change with the wind to be fair, could be an age thing 😂 think you wanted him out at times middle of championship season because Raith had a crazy run of scoring late goals that was never going to last, then again when we lost to Dunfermline in spring
If we'd gone down that road we may not have got promotion and the 4th place finish last year and European football
Footy fans are fickle, don't like the bigger picture
It's fair to say we'd never have seen the McLean years if forums and social media existed in the early 70s
