As GB mentioned previously it’s yet another example of total lack of communication from the Club about what the actual phuck is happening with players. Turns out that JG has finally let out that Stirton does infact have a foot injury and will be out till at least the end of the month. Why they don’t let us know these things earlier lord only knows, but in the vacuum left behind by a lack of updates that’s where ludicrous rumours can start over the reasons for a player’s unavailability when the answer, if promulgated, is actually very simple.Last edited by JamesMcClean; 02-10-2025, 05:47 PM.

Bounce games to be organised for them to get them back to match fitness. I heard that the academy kids were frustrated in not getting any regular games. Strain & Nammo are just getting minutes here and there. Yet we have the agreement with Airdrie where we can send some players age permitting back and forth to get game time.
FFS how did Dailly, McKinnon, McKinlay, Bollan, Ferguson, Connolly & O'Neil get into the first team and when in, not look out of place? Reserve team football. Stating the bleeding obvious but it worked, none of this age restricted pish or having agreements in place. Reserve games got decent fans turning out to see them at the actual stadium where we play our home games.

I know this is a subject close to your heart and i agree with you 100% regarding the benefits of a proper reserve league. What i don't agree with would be playing the games at Tannadice as the pitch would be ruined by December/January and more 1st team games would be postponed.Originally posted by Arabs4ever View PostBounce games to be organised for them to get them back to match fitness. You really only need to see footage of us in the 80's to see the state of the pitch when we were playing games in the winter, now back then everybody just accepted it along with the tackle from behind but in this age of player protection and health and safety you just know that ref's are being told to call the game off if they think there are safety concern's.

Those two will be lucky to get through a bounce game without getting injured again! My issue is with timescales not gametime. We were told Graham would be out until October and now it's likely to be Christmas. F*cking hell a broken leg would heal quicker.Originally posted by Arabs4ever View PostBounce games to be organised for them to get them back to match fitness. Does anyone have any updates on the various recovery situations and when we're likely to see players back in the squad?
Watters and Graham mentioned above, supposedly playing bounce games to get some match fitness.
What about Ryan Strain - how is he recovering from his "slight muscle discomfort" (strain in other words)? He was supposed to play against Motherwell, but the afore mentioned "muscle discomfort" kept him out of that but he was expected to be in the squad for Tynecastle. He wasn't.
Any word on how Craig Sibbald is getting on?
Also, Zak Sapsford looked like he hurt himself as scored his second disallowed goal against Hearts - was that just a momentary thing?

More chance of discovering Scotland's military secrets than getting updates on our injured players 😉Originally posted by PT_Arab View PostDoes anyone have any updates on the various recovery situations and when we're likely to see players back in the squad?

Dundee United could be boosted by TWO major returns for Falkirk clash ? as Jim Goodwin offers Isaac Pappoe injury update
Ross Graham and Max Watters returned to training last week and are making fine progress.
Ross Graham and Max Watters are pushing for a return to the Dundee United squad for Saturday?s Premiership fixture against Falkirk.
Graham has been absent since suffering a hamstring tear during a pre-season friendly against PEC Zwolle in July. Given similar issues last season, the decision was made to refer him for surgery.
Watters also suffered a hamstring injury against Kilmarnock in August, bringing a superb start to his United career ? four goals in six outings ? to a shuddering halt.
However, both players trained with the first-team last week and, although too soon to consider a place in the starting line-up, boss Jim Goodwin will make a late decision regarding their availability for the bench against the Bairns.
?It?s a big week for Ross and Max,? said Goodwin. ?They?re back in with the boys ? so we?ll see how they are by the weekend.
?Given the length of time they have been out, it?s probably too early to be thinking about starts.
?But we have a game arranged for next week, so we?ll get them some good minutes in that and push them on.
?It will be so important to get them back available again. They have both worked so hard on the rehab side of things so we?re just glad there?s light at the end of the tunnel for them.?
Goodwin confirmed that Graham?s operation has been a success and that his skipper ? who missed several months of last season with hamstring issues ? is feeling pain free and moving freely.
?The operation was successful, Ross is feeling great and has no pain,? said the United gaffer.
?It?s just about his overall fitness now. He needs to get a run of being injury free, for himself and for us because he?s an important player for us. He?s club captain and someone we really believe can kick on.?
Meanwhile, Goodwin acknowledges that Isaac Pappoe?s layoff following surgery to repair knee ligament damage will be ?a long one?.
He is unable to put a timeframe on the player?s recovery but it is clear that the on-loan Ferencvaros man ? who suffered the devastating injury against Rapid Vienna in August ? faces a race against time to play again for United.
?Isaac?s surgery went well but he?s going to be long-term because there was a lot of damage to the knee. It?s going to be a long one for him, so we?ll give him all the support we can and take it week to week with him.
?He?s stayed in Scotland. His club were happy for us to do the rehab which was good.
?It?s been difficult for him, on a personal level, but he?s got good people around him.
?We?ll just have to be patient. It?s an open-ended one because all we can do with an injury like his is play it by ear. He?s a really good player, I think everyone saw that when he played, but he was just really unfortunate with the way it happened
