Devaluing is just fine, that's what reasonable debate is about. You refute the argument or the other through logical debate, your superior logic can then devalue the argument the other has put forth.

It is personal abusive that's crossed the line "like the sad little man you are, w*nking yourself stupid over percentages, crowd figures and whatever the f*ck else gets you off".

I dont think that that is OK. I think the the mods should be getting you telt for behaviour like that.

I think you should man up and offer an apology or take your vitriol elsewhere.

I dont care whether you care about my opinion or not but its posts like yours that will put off posters coming and staying on forums. Thankfully Shedka seems to have a thick skin but others might not and I think having more posters on this forum rather than your abusive personal attacking posts would be my preferred option and probably a lot of others.

Personally I rather enjoy seeing a spectrum of opinion whether i agree with it or not. It would be very boring otherwise.

Having an opinion and being willing to debate is one thing but he consistently attacks other posters who disagree, throwing insults at decent longstanding fans. He refuses to accept his opinion can be questioned and in fact I think that's the reason why so many posters like Arabdownsouth and me post elsewhere and why new posters here don't often stick around.

The board is barely moderated, fans of other clubs have pretty much free run at it.

Anyway, that's me done here. I'm at the age where I enjoy debate about United but not where someone pipes up to call me a knicker wetting fan, a bed wetter or something insulting because I'm not happy with the standard of football at my club.

It's little wonder the board is quiet these days, even during match weeks, maybe ask yourselves why.

Quite relieved that some real life issues are keeping me away from the death of what i thought was a damn fine place to be. There have been some absolutely epic posters on here, but sadly all that good is undone by one constant!

Yeah agree. I haven't been here near as long as most but really enjoyed it. The logging on/signing in thing , plus "error codes" are geting really annoying. I can't usually get on using my phone, and when I do, it lets me write my post, but refuses to send/accept.

Also, the "last touch feekie injection" having to have the last word attitude of some posters thinking it's War and Peace they are writing can be quite annoying. But hey, that's just my opinion.

I'm not leaving yet, but sad to see so many good posters bailing out for their own reasons.

The trying to get on the site is annoying me more than what some folk post.

And...dodging ADS is easy, just block him... like I do others.

It's trickier then you imagine. One person's removal/editing of a post is another's claim of censorship. Ultimately, we're all adults (certainly for the most part) and I think folk need to consider that when posting. I understand it's perhaps optimistic is me that we can continue like this but, honestly, I think self control makes this place what it is. Ultimately, a decent bunch of folk (most of the time).

Relegation season, you have brought that up a couple times and I've not engaged as would only make you look silly again but in what way was I wrong about that season and you right? I know we had a top 5 record from October to January over a 15 game period that got us get out of the top two under Fox (when we were without a win going into October and bereft of confidence) of all people, until some rotten luck late January followed by releghitti getting tackled into his own net by may in February in a game we likely would have went onto win, changing manager didn't save us anymore than sticking with Fox would have

We had taken 1 point from the five games previous to the St Johnstone game at Tannadice - a game in which we were depressingly bad. I had been living in England for 16 years, recently moved back to the area and this was the first game I had attended for several years. I knew things were bad at the club but I was alarmed at just how poor we were. We were the worst team in the league, which was backed up by the fact that we were bottom of the league for almost the entire season. It was a minor miracle that we managed to get to the final game with our fate not yet totally sealed.

To the vast majority, it was blindingly obvious from a very early stage in the season (think 9-0 defeat at home) that we were heading down that season. It baffles me that anyone could have painted a different picture, and indeed still try to back that up even today.

Yep, we got relegated end of story. Hard to see what's right about that tbh. It's like coming home from the bookies penniless and explaining to the missus that there's no housekeeping money left but in a way it's ok because if luck had been with you things would be fine 🤔

Yeah. And if your horse didn't fall at the first fence for the last three weeks on the trot (pun intended) and get boxed in by a jockey who knew what he was doing the week before (and the week before that ) then that horse would hae been right up there in the first three. So if you punted on that horse "each way" instead of on the nose (as you did) you also would hae made the correct decision knowing you horse was a tap three contender, then took all the winnings back hame to look after the hoose.

We got to tenth place in January from being rooted without a win in October, had some terrible decisions against us in back to back games, it was not obvious in January we were going down though, releghitti was then the main reason after January

Infact had we addressed the goal keeper situation then, we would have stayed up, even under Fox as we were not the worst team in the league from the outfield stand point and like said, he got us to 10th after a decent run from October to January after we had been rooted with no wins

Like 2015/16, how can I be wrong in thinking we'd have had as much chance staying up NOT changing manager both times (ie sticking with Sackie and Fox to end of season), it cannot be proven either way, I wouldn't have changed manager either time (Ross deserved to be sacked though), for me we'd have got more points under Jackie than we did under Mixu and Fox wouldn't have done any worse then we did, not that I'd have wanted Fix long term

The positive from it is we got the right man in this time to bring stability, JG has been proven to be the correct choice and we are in a much better place even looking ahead to next season which is why it's sad to see him have so many naysayers, not because he's beyond criticism but criticism is different to wanting him out

Its not as if you enjoy debate though. You're right and everyone else is wrong and thats your view. A load of ifs and buts about the relegation season does not make you right, we got relegated and thats in the history books unfortunately rather than your stat based woulda coulda shoulda. Not sure my grannys lack of gonads has much to do with reasonable debate either but hey.

What I will add though is this. You take two good performances (one of which we didn't even win) as proof that the system works, but totally refute those who use the rest of the season as proof that it doesn't. How's that work then?
