  • Last Nights handball

Just a quick poll to see what everybody else thinks about last night's handball decision. Living in Glasgow it has been tainted by everybody's green or blue glasses.

    For me....its 100% a handball

    What's everybody else's thoughts?

Yeah I think it is too,but it should also have been given for the elbow tbf. I think McInnes is a prick and Hearts have had plenty go their way this season too, so he can f*ck off with his "We're up against everybody" shyte. Boo f*cking hoo!

Deciding between whether Hearts or Celtic win the league is like choosing between beheading or electrocution.

No other side apart from Rangers would have got that decision. Seeing Boyd almost about to burst into tears was gold; a bit pot/kettle coming from him.

The no penalty argument seems to be trajectory and pace of the ball i.e. it wouldn’t have travelled that far if it was just use of the hand. So if it’s ball to hand after striking another part of the body in defence, it isn’t a penalty as I understand it. As opposed to the Dalby v Hibs ‘no goal!’

Hearts didn’t get a penalty v Motherwell for an almost identical tackle that Fatah got sent off for in the Jan game against us, where that f***y Leonard rolled about as if he had been shot, first one that game by him. As someone said they have benefited and lost out from VAR.

The bigger problem is Collum trying to defend poor decisions and sometimes, less so agreeing with the aggrieved. The bottom line is consistency with or without VAR is lacking and has done so for many years. The OF and SFA won’t admit it but bias in favour of those clubs is undeniable.

Never a penalty,VAR was brought in to stop the injustice's of the Thierry Henry handball that saw Ireland denied a place in the world cup finals. It was never meant to invent penalties for Celtic or to take them away from the Diddy teams in Scotland but that's what has happened.

I cannot believe anyone bar a rabid Celtic fan thinks that was a penalty last night but there you go.

Surely that decision last night makes calls for foreign refs in the top flight stronger? However the SFA wouldn't like that as they do anything for the two arse cheeks. If that was given the other way, that was never given.

I don't think you could conclusively say for definite it hit his hand so VAR shouldn't get involved.

FWIW, I think if it had hit his hand the ball wouldn't have went pinging off like it did. My friend, who is a Sunderland session ticket holder said: "Never a penalty there mind !"

The ex Premier League referee (Graham Scott) writing in The Athletic didn't think it was either.

It might have flicked his hand which was in an unatural position, but not sure how that could be deemed clear and obvious. Sums up everything sh1t about modern football. Trusty doing what every team does last minute when desperate, gets in box tries to engineer some contact for a var, stays down long enough for var to look at it, no foul, but then sees a forensic var handball instead.

Wouldn't be surprised if hearts get a dodgy one now on Saturday.

I think they are just sh1t, Hibs scored a goal a few weeks ago against Celtic when the guy clearly only scored cause it came off his hand.

20 seconds to review it!!! he had already thanked the gods VAR had made the decision for him. The collusion is unreal.

If it had been down south, with ‘proper’ VAR, there would have been umpteen camera angles available to give a better assessment. As it is, with our knockdown, bargain basement Poundland VAR, there was only one camera angle available and even at that it was way up in the main stand. Absolutely phucking hopeless. As well as that though (and it’s not just this one we’re talking about here) the whole ethos of ‘clear and obvious errors’ has been totally chucked out the window. Like Dalby’s goal v Hibs last season, if it’s taking the VAR team 2-3 minutes to pour over something back, forward and back again in an effort to ‘find’ something then it’s hardly ‘clear and obvious’. That stops becoming eliminating howlers but instead re-refereeing matches which is another thing entirely.

The other paradox as well is the original ref’s decision. What if Beaton had given that on field? Would he have been called over to review it, or would it have stood following the VAR check? We all know the answer - penalty to Celtic.

                              My own opinion

The Celtic pen the other night was ridiculous. No way could that have been a clear and obvious error.
From my own looking at it I don?t think it hits his hand, the head contacts to send the ball large distance out of play

Hearts should have had the pen when Kyziridis has his foot stood on v Motherwell - which was a big call

Assuming shanks scores the penalty awarded that would be difference of 4 points to hearts over Celtic

I also agree Hearts are one of the worst teams (as well as old firm) for diving about and the Fatah incident was particularly bad

So Hearts have been at it some times but they should have had better decisions from the refs

Personally I hope hearts win on Saturday
