  • Poor Shanks. Hooked today after 9mins due to another red card. Safe to say the boys move has turned into a complete disaster.

Not got off to a great start, I'd say it's far too early to be calling it a complete disaster though.

      • 1 point from a possible 30 and only two starts in which he hasn't even lasted the first half. That's a disaster for me.

Maybe for his team, that doesn't make it a personal disaster for him. He's been hooked early twice down to tactical decisions when down to 10 men. How long has he been there? Far far too early to be judging him imo. Correct me if I'm wrong but have you not commented the same thing before too? Possibly even a couple of weeks earlier?

After their match vs St. Liege six weeks ago, yes. I thought they'd turn it around but it's clearly getting worse for them and Shanks is getting little to no game time despite being their big summer signing. Two players sent off today, a 0-3 defeat at home and already well cut adrift at the bottom for the number of games they've played. It's already looking like relegation form.

He should have signed for Dundee

And? The point I'm making is I talked down the fact it wasn't looking like a good move at that time as it was still early doors. Now, not so. Six and a half weeks and they've lost every single game they've played in that time.

I'm talking about the player not the club, I thought this was the ex players thread not the Belgian league thread? It's still too early to say his move is a disaster in my opinion. He's still getting his wage I'm sure and hopefully when he does get an opportunity he takes it.

Kinda hard to talk about how a players move is working out without talking about the club he plays for, no?

Yes but you seem to be mainly focused on his clubs form. He obviously knew they weren't going to be challenging at the other end of the table when he signed and will be hoping that eventually he will get a sustained run in the team and can halt their poor form. You've been calling his move a disaster from pretty much the get go? I'm saying give him a chance. He could still perform well himself and earn himself a better move down the line, then it's not a disaster at all.

Have I? I'm sure we both just agreed that I was saying the opposite a few weeks ago? Now, after watching Beerschots results every week and the lack of game time the manager is giving Shankland, I've changed my mind. Today in fact is the first day I've said the move has turned into a disaster.

My mistake, but I did actually ask you had you said the same thing a few weeks ago and you said yes.

My mistake then, I've misread your question. I was indeed saying the opposite a six weeks ago. I haven't commented much on the subject other than saying it was a bizarre move due to his manager knowing nothing about him until 2 weeks before he signed.

Fair enough. I still hope it all works out for him, would hate to see him playing for Neilson next season.
