It wasn't simply a double bed on top of the pie shop though, that was the first attempt at building a hotel within the stadium (f*cking stadium my arse)Originally posted by cybershed View PostThink that guy in the first pic is one of their 'young team'?
Where is the Derry Drum. No seen that for a while.
My personal favourite is the double bed on the roof of the pie shop.
Or is it the Derry Fox RIP.

I'll guess just after the post wwii era when crowds got stupidly big across the country, pretty sure Utd had 5 figure average in the second tier despite being a second tier club for all but 4 years of their existence at that stage
A one off era that has clouded some people into thinking some clubs were bigger than they were had been pre ww2 or since things tailed off in the 60s onwards

Ha ha 🤣Originally posted by Piscean View PostDespite slagging the Dees off their highest ever average is over 24,000, more than Aberdeens highest and double Uniteds. They're actually 5th highest of all time, with Aberdeen 6th. Unbelievable.
Crowds in 1910 don’t count
1910 and never again
Does you reasoning make Third Lanark one of the biggest clubs in the country ?!??

According to this book both Dundee and Aberdeens highest ever averages were in the 1950s, prob Hearts and Hibs the same, will have to check. It says Uniteds highest almost 40 years ago, just over 12,000. It goes Rangers, Celtic, Hibs, Hearts, Dundee, Aberdeen in that order but now with Celtic getting over 50,000 every week they would move to number 1 as the book is about 15 years old. United actually come in at 15th with that 12,000 average average. Dundee only averaged just over 16,000 when winning the league, United averaging just over 10000 when winning theirs.Originally posted by TerryTheTerror View PostWhen was that though?

It's only relevant from then as it's those teams highest ever crowds, Uniteds highest ever crowd was almost 60 years ago. Crowd averages now outside the big 4 are way lower but the grounds are much smaller.Originally posted by TerryTheTerror View PostThe 1950's? You need to explain the relevance of that 70 odd years later.
