We need to have a decent manager long term to bring sustainable success
Agreed, the question is will Goodwin get a better offer? I would tie him down as an insurance payoff in case he gets head hunted for a bigger team

The loss of Holt and to a lesser extent the injuries of Graham has had a massive influence on the balance of our team as along with our 2 best central defenders missing we desperately need Sevelj in the middle of midfield as imo Sibbald isn't quite up to full match fitness and should be used sparingly.

I don't know what the story was with Holt going but I'd imagine it was he was offered a longer contract on slightly better money but I'm hearing rumours on here and from other supporters that we got ?35k for him and that he wanted away for the rumoured longer contract on offer from Derry City. If these rumours are true then that is 100% small time thinking from us as keeping him and offering him a better deal might have been the difference from us finishing 3rd and a guaranteed ?5-6m from European football.

I honestly never thought I'd say this about Holt when he signed for us as I was just of the opinion that he like Sibbald was a Championship type player that will get us up then we'd release him but he has been is a big loss to us both defensively and offensively and we should have tried harder to keep him, especially if we knew Gallagher was being released and would down tools, the Graham injury situation and Manny being inconsistent.

Yes it was a strange one at the time not stopping Holt from leaving or getting him to stay

Throughout his time we?d only offer him one year deals so guess that?s why he wanted to go.

The defence needs sorted for Saturday as St Mirren are a big physical team and will exploit any weaknesses

Agree also that Docherty and Sevelj should be the midfield just now

Ross Graham is out for season now with hamstring strain so it?s either we play Sam Cleall Harding or go to a back 4 like we often do against the old firm

What a mess we're in thanks to not replacing Holt in January when they knew he was going. I can't see that being Goodwin's decision not to bring in a replacement. Is he not getting the backing we needed to finish 3rd and now need just to finish 4th or 5th?

As for big Ross Graham's injury - that started (and it was the same with Moult) on that crappy Kilmarnock plastic not fantastic pitch. It's time that managers like Goodwin call those pitches out. Every time teams play on them the physio room is full on the Monday with all the injuries people are getting. Never mind though as it's keeping Kilmarnock in the Premier League with their cheating pitch. If they played on grass they would have been relegated a few seasons ago.

Maybe we should do a Dailly-esque switch with van Der Sande being put at centre back. Well, he's really good at avoiding goals being scored especially for his ain team.

Either that or get his agent Freddie van Der Hoorn to play for us. Guy's only 61 so should be faster than Gallagher (I like Gallagher but pace is not one of his assets). Now, Freddie was a player.

Is his sight any better these days? One of the better Dutch guys we've had over the years with Guido & Sieb being the others.

I think we're more worried about St Mirren tbh, I don't see us winning a single point now

Aberdeen are not exactly in great form themselves. The goal difference thing means if it stays the same we can still finish ahead them if we were to beat the sheep at Tannadice.

Correct. I said some time ago that we were done. We'll get hammered on Wednesday and wouldn't be surprised if St Mirren take something from Hibs.

If they don't beat Hibs then they would have to take something at CP.

Despite all the negativity we are still in a good place for Europe and that is down to our accumulation of points.

I would argue that if you cannot secure 1 point at home v ST FN Mirren you really dinnie deserve to represent Scotland in europe, forget all the FN excuses i do not want another AZ in the record books and this team looks more than capable of providing it.If they finish 6th i sincerely hope they lose thousands in bonus payments for blowing an almost unassailable lead.
