for older members, before the stadium construction where did you stand and where do you sit now, is seating preffered? I stood in the Shed and now sit in the ETL, great times in the Shed

I stood in the shed about halfway up and usually in front of a barrier to avoid getting squashed when we scored 🤣Originally posted by ROMA84 View Postfor older members, before the stadium construction where did you stand and where do you sit now, is seating preffered? I used to switch ends at halftime in those days against the smaller clubs as most of the action was usually in one penalty box only

When I first started going I would stand at the end United were attacking then change ends at half time. What a laugh when the HT scoreboard boy made a mistake. See when he picked up a zero for the Fun away, always raised a cheer.
Occasionally just for a change I'd stand at the corner beside the Shed, liked the view from there.
Watched the first Barca game from high up on the north terracing, what a great view from up there. If I went with my old man that's where we would go, but otherwise it was in the Shed.

Started on the Cliff we my dad and uncle, (bevvy allowed) pretty high up, not even at school then. Shedboy in my t e e n s , Changed ends aswell for some games. GFU now, and pretty close to where my dad and uncle stood I would guess, as we still go out the same doors that lead straight on to Sandeman Street.

I was mostly in the Seggy but occasionally in the Shed. Post reconstruction I was mostly in the ETU but then had to go to the disabled section in the ETL. However, after the **** show of Rapid Vienna when folk were standing in the disabled section and I couldn't see bugger all, I'm now in the Dode lower, Shed end.

Was generally the Shed behind the goal but occasionally North enclosure (notably games v Barca and Gothenburg with my big brother). That’s the problem now isn’t it - you can’t chop and change. You’re tied down to a particular seat in a particular stand and you can’t just up sticks and decide to watch the game from a different viewpoint on a whim. Changed days and not for the better.Last edited by JamesMcClean; 18-10-2025, 09:41 AM.

It was The Shed for me and sometimes the Skol corner on the way out, like others have said we used to switch ends at H/T against lesser teams. It was normal to see a pretty full Shed in the 1st half and it being half empty for the 2nd.A very rare treat was to do a transfer to the stand from the Arklay ST end which you paid extra for.
Another thing very different from the auld days was the opposing fans also being allowed in The Shed with a row of policemen keeping the two sets of fans apart.

The disabled section up there is reserved for hospitality. I do get to go there sometimes if there is room, the view is amazing. The little barriers are just to stop a wheelchair rolling forward.Originally posted by Yeats 62 View PostGet back up to the GFU , they hae a lift and athin now. I get what you are saying about the low barriers for a wheelchair, but, when there are no chairs there it geez me the fear. A slight nudge or wobble to the right as you come back fae the loo,or the shop, and you hae a broken ankle and go erse for tit into row E scaldin' some pair buggers haid we molten Bovril.Originally posted by TerryTheTerror View PostThe disabled section up there is reserved for hospitality.
