Never said anything of the sort. Villa fielded a weakened side just as Leeds did in 1970. We were punished, it doesn't look like Villa will be. Neither instance could (or.should) be regarded as match-fixing but evidence of what clubs will do to prioritise competitions that they consider to have the greatest value. Leeds did it, Villa did and I suspect that it would be fairly easy to find a great many more examples at all levels of the game.Originally posted by spaldy View Postso you think that match fixing is not something that a governing body should not be involved in punishing? Of course, if you are on the take then villa did nothing wrong.
That was in the same category as the 1919 black sox scandal

And they made changes? if you?re a first team squad player, you get paid very well and what, you can only play depending on who else is in the first team??? As long as clubs don't fill the team with youth (tho at times folk complain not enough young ones getting a chance) I don?t see any problem. Everton have a young lad they paid 40m for who is not a regular, but he?s good enough to be a squad player?Originally posted by norfolk white View PostForest 2 up at Chelsea, they didn’t throw the towel in, anyone else getting twitchy yet again.
