  • Cracks in the Arse to Exploit Tactically

Just thinking the Gunners maybe subdue their gifted players somewhat tactically.

For example it appears Arsenal used a 4-3-3 shape with the ball with their centre-backs split to build around the Man U front 3 with Odegaard making their wide runs which helped the Arse to build around inside the spaces between the advancing Scum full-backs, so Arsenal then had access straight into Viktor Gyokeres.

Reading the various tactical analysis reports
the major issue with this was that whenever Man U won possession in the middle third, huge wide spaces were available for counter-attacks due to Arsenals high full-backs. In conjunction with ManU's direct passing, Arsenal thus looked vulnerable when they didnt progress up the pitch with sequences of passes. 💡

This should play into our hands if we can exploit that situation & clinically finish any opening via awareness & pace & the use of the better skills that Piroe/Nmencha currently can offer.

    Conclusion.
Artetas team were actually 'most' vulnerable from their own poor counter-attacking as the game went on cos they 'failed' to secure play inside Man U's half for 'long-enough' to flip the momentum particularly in the second half.
The likes of Cunha & Mbeumo then started to thrive on Man U's attacking transitions as their back line skipped the midfield & hit direct onto their front line which on another day goal chances badly missed maybe would have been taken.

It'll be interesting to see how we are set up & who DF picks against the Gunners as we have nothing to lose in reality so can play with no real pressure.

    MT, nice write up.

Not sure this is the "blow out" that some think it will be. You observation on the wing backs is spot on and we have the ability to exploit that. We have an element of surprise this early in the year.

No blowout for me, but we are facing a beast with no striker, and also, what's going to happen with the new defender, as he surely can't drop Pat after what he displayed. 1 or 2 goal defeat for me, which won't be too bad considering who we are playing and on there home soil.
Good write-up, Totty. Now, can you do something about my finances lol

I think that Nmencha might be a better one to start for this matchup.

Time for James to insert himself and Gnonto to cause them fits.

Trouble with gnonto is that stamina puffs out quickly. He dribbles 2 or 3 players, and when he goes to shoot, he doesn't have any strength left.

The diagonal balls Mount and others hit long especially to Mbueno seemed to exploit Arsenal tucking in or pushing forward full backs left space- especially the left back. James surely has the pace to exploit that if that happens again.

I hope that James has an "ax to grind" with the gunners!

Think Ramazani could cause them a lot of problems with his pace too but - he has to be on the pitch to do that.

One pundit was talking about Farke not being impressed with his concentration in games defensively and that he is prone to not pick players up as Farke thinks he switches off too much.

                  Good choice of title totty.
Andrew will be disappointed to find its football related.

For me, Remazani is a match winner. Definitely needs introduced at some stage. Even late, when defenders have tired legs and try Them out for concentration.

Yeah I agree - interesting that Farke took Tanaka to one side at the end of the game and was telling him not to get carried away with emotions and stick to defensive duties when we are winning. Maybe that is why Rama doesn?t enough game time as he can?t stick to the defensive pattern.

Largie is a bundle of energy when he comes on which I like about him. As with many substitutes, he can try too hard to impress and makes wrong choices at times, (Gnonto is similar) has he any defensive qualities?

Key moments from DF presser today on Arsenal clash.

Farke confirmed Ethan Ampadu has suffered an MCL injury and will be out until at least the September international break but will be hopefully back on the other side of the break'.

On who can fill in for Ampadu, Farke said: 'Anton Stach can play there and Ilia Gruev who had a good pre-season. Ao Tanaka can also play here too & Sean Longstaff.
But all interpretate the role quite differently.'

                          Farke also said:
'It is possible new signing Noah Okafor will feature on Saturday, as he doesnt need 3 or 4 weeks to build up to a game. Lets see in the next few days and we will make a decision.
He is a player of high potential and has pretty much all the skills. He can offer goals and assists, he has delivered a few for AC Milan and scored in the Champions League. He has really good pace and is a good dribbler. He is a strong player but I dont want to praise too much - I want to let him deliver.'

On fellow new attacking signing Dominic Calvert-Lewin:
'Every training session is important for him. He has some weeks off and has been training individually. Team training is really important. He makes a decent impression, already really integrated, is growing day-by-day. From a fitness point of view a great shape and he is a great character.'

Asked if Leeds are targeting more signings before the end of the window, Farke offered:
'I don't speak about names but we have spoken in the full-back position we might need an addition and also before that we would strengthen our offence before these two attacking signings and we will see if we still do. I would not rule out one or two more signings in the offence.'

How will he approach the challenge of facing Arsenal ?
'We won't sell out our DNA and park the bus. If you just try to defend you have no chance to survive there. We will try to be there with many periods with the ball. Will try and create chances to scare them. There will be periods where we suffer and we have to be well structured.'
